Has anyone any experience with these? I’ve seen adverts for the range : Vsysto, Thinkware, Innov Practical experience and/or recommendations.
Stuck to helmet cams personally & now that police can seize footage. It's just not worth the hassle imho
I had an innov k3 front and rear on my blade and found the quality very good, the microphone couldn’t handle the pitch from the race fit for very long though. I left it on the bike when sold and still going strong apparently. Thinking about the same set up on my panigale if i can find somewhere discreet to mount it
Yep, if you never speed, then get a dashcam, otherwise you’re just handing the evidence over on a plate.
The police are only allowed to take the cameras from your bike as it’s part of the vehicle , they’re not allowed to take it from your person .
My understanding was all footage could be confiscated as evidence? Seems a little odd they can take it from your bike but not your person should you be detained.
44 teeth did a question and answer with white dalton and that’s what he said , bike camera yes and body camera no . is a bit odd tho
This article contradicts 44 teeth’s clip in that case. https://www.bikerandbike.co.uk/can-police-seize-your-dashcam-and-helmet-camera-footage/
I’m less concerned about speeding evidence than I am about recording the idiots who may knock me off. But thanks for all those concerned about my licence.
I fitted the VSYSTO M6L about 3 years ago and it's still going strong, though thankfully I haven't needed the footage as evidence of any sort. It consists of front and rear cameras, a control unit and a 'smart' power unit that connects direct to the battery. Rather than having a switched supply, it detects a draw on the battery and activates the cameras. I opted not to have a screen or GPS module, though both were available. I can connect an iPhone app to view videos or remove the memory card and view on a PC or Mac. Can't see an M6L for sale anywhere now, so presumably it's been superceded. Amazon has a variety of VSYSTO models; this looks about the same.
Why would you want to video something, spend ages messing around editing it, only to never watch it. Ever. IMO All you’re doing is Plod’s job and building up evidence against yourself should you get stopped
I don’t think anyone’s suggesting editing their ride video in this thread, nor am I going to watch my ride videos. I have dashcams in both cars ‘just in case’ and gain discount from my insurers as a result. I am considering whether to do the same with my bike.
With an £80 discount on Amazon, I snapped up one. Many thanks. Looks comparable to the Innovv K5. Now I just have to figure which bike to fit it on
My friend did a YouTube vid on the vantrue. I have the Innovv and out of the two, wished I’d bought the vantrue after seeing how good his was. Especially with the Amazon voucher applied.
For anyone concerned with the plod, the Vantrue has a format feature. Long press the record button (10 seconds) and all data is wiped. Useful if you think you might have done something wrong.
My wife & I have had 5 separate instances in cars in the last 10 years, and EVERY time, the dashcam footage has been used to prove the other party was at fault. The last one was this time last year & I downloaded the footage from the SD card & sent the relevant section to the police (approx 90sec) - no request for the whole thing, or the card. I’ll definitely be putting something on the multi, as soon as I find one that’s not silly money…
I have the innovv k3 on the multi, but this Vantrue looks better, especially the long press of record button to wipe memory, and the map overlay on the cam footage is a great feature. Does the Vantrue start automatically like the innovv does? The innovv can't take an sd card that size either, so a long trip would mean less fuckin about changing cards too.
