Got a chance to take the 888 up Shere Hill Climb. Only 15'ish bikes took to the hill and mine was the 2nd youngest with BSA, Rudge, Norton and Triton to name a few. The MV SuperVeloce was the newest bike there and sounded lovely. It was a scorcher yesterday and not much in the way of shade, so headed home early before the 3rd run. Still a wonderful day out. A very eclectic mix of vehicles.
Looks like fun, was the rider in front holding you up a bit? Certainly a good mix of vehicles, even a Lambretta! Did it go up the hill?
The Lambretta did make it. If you hear the guys at the start, the first guy said “fast ones” when he directed me to the front, as the slower ones struggled, then the start line guy said I couldn’t overtake….the Norton sounded lovely, so very happy to sit behind him at the end.
It was very hot there, had a lovely chat with the brothers who owned an MV in the brooklands bike area. Some great cars there that day, the Singer porsche was lovely. That Honda Cub 50 was mint too.
I am still pretty burned up......It was almost a relief to put the jacket and helmet on! Both of the brothers volunteer at Brooklands with the BSA owning brother appearing on the TV show. The Honda Cub 50 was my main rival.....
Yeah, I think we can accept now that any that are out and about are replicas.. but some (maybe even most) are done to such an authentic (aged) standard to be still awe inspiring.
