Got a few more miles scrubbing in my new tyres this morning. Stopped off at Choppers in Burbage on the A338. Awesome bacon and black pudding roll but definitely not the day to go. Clearly something had been on Saturday night and a lot of bikes were arriving on what looked like a pre arranged meet with much hugging and shaking of hands going on. Andy
Spent most of the day stripping and cleaning this, long, and very tedious job, the bike has definitely not been looked after by the previous owner(s), tar spots all over the bike, looks like it has been continuously ridden through large muddy puddles
To be fair, the chain came up pretty well, and plenty of Autosmart Tardis, has cleaned up the exhaust and swingarm nicely The wheels, on the other hand...
Just an FB page at the mo, bit of a sudden move tbh, not a big full add just a ‘thinking of selling’ type one. Not riding either, if I don’t enjoy Silverstone the pani will go too….
I finally found a speedo drive replacement after three odd weeks from ebay and fitted it yesterday, the existing one still works but the black plastic shroud'd cracked, no doubt age related or other.......perhaps it can be glued.? When in a forward motion the speedo would rotate and stress out the steel speedo cable and so the cable then snapped. All positive on the test ride.
Ride to work this morning. After a mixed but mostly enjoyable day yesterday, I feel a bit more enthused about bikes again
Dug my 996S out of storage! (~1 year) Runs ok, needs new tyres...as been stored for so long they are cracked (Going to be putting it back to bone stock!)
