748 Ducati 748 Fit

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by Ricardo Campos, Aug 29, 2023.

  1. Hello.

    Thanks in advanced.

    Need some information.

I have a 748 and i am upgrading it slowly, is a 2000 standard Biposto.

So what i want to know is:

    What rear shocks are compatible?

    What front forks are compatible?

Is oil cooler compatible with a 748 standard engine?

    Is the 853CC kit reliable?

Is there a mono subframe for my original loom?

One more question does 749/999 suspension fits the 748?

    Thanks from Portugal.

  2. What rear shocks are compatible?
Any 916, 996, 998 Sachs, Showa or Ohlins

    What front forks are compatible?
Only the Showa unless you get the triple clamps to suit the Ohlins. Then you need the compatible bars as well.

Is oil cooler compatible with a 748 standard engine?
Yes but you need to also add in the pressure relief spring above the oil filter and change the external oil pipes on the engine

    Is the 853CC kit reliable?
Depends on whose kit. I have FBF Wiseco pistons and then used 916 parts. Did it myself. Needed some work on the inside of the head but works well now.

Is there a mono subframe for my original loom?
Most guys just remove the passenger pegs and use a mon tail. That's what I use

  3. I've had two 853 conversions and both been very reliable

  4. Gorgeous.

  5. How did you fit the ohlins steering damper? Can you post a pic?

  6. You just need the proper Ohlins clamp or a copy. I mounted my phone connector as well on the damper 20230831_095549.jpg

  7. Does any one knows if the Ducati 749/999 rear ohlins and front suspensio fits a 748? Also does de RSVR ohlins fits a 748?

  8. Fairly sure the 999 rear shock gas reservoir will foul on the exhaust. 999 front will fit but not easily. You will need the triples and handlebar clamps and then you won't have a speedo. You may also need to change the front wheel or play with spacers for the axle and calipers

  9. Thank you for the answer. How about the Aprilai RSVr Ohlins forks? They look almost the same as the 748.
