What music are you listening to ?

  1. A couple of years back there was a concert of theirs on the tele, it may have been part of a documentary, and it was just guys & girls having a drink, a dance & a sing along to some good music.

Sometimes music can go up it's own arse of seriousness and there is nothing wrong with cracking night out.

I've heard it being said that after a couple of scrumpy ciders the Wurzels are the same cracking night out... as long as you stick to the kissing cider & not the fighting cider.

  2. Here you go - unfortunately I could only find this ropey backstage film of one song of the concert I was talking about.

But it does show, perish the thought, people just enjoying themselves.

  3. How dare they!

Huge fan of Fripp ..... seen him live many times with various band members ... always stunning
You don't get any dance routines like with The Shadows though .... no fart jokes either , for that matter !
    .... a serious man ....:)

  6. That clip, with Bruford maintaining the same rhythm throughout, comes from a complete concert that is just absolutely superb - real top, top quality musicianship from them all. And deffo a fav of mine.

  7. I followed his collaborations with Toyah, it’s amazing the advances in cosmetic surgery. Literally nothing moves or bounces……..on her.

  8. Bruford just aces it every time , no matter who he is playing with . even going back to Yes , fifty years ago !
He is highly rated of course ...... just not nearly enough , IMO .

    Here's this , for a dull a Friday afternoon ....

  9. a "where have I been?" moment for me - like it or loathe it, credit where it's due, this tune blew everything out of the water when finally went public approx 2019..

  10. never met him but remember seeing his tiny drumming lessons ad on a noticeboard at the old Andertons music site in Guildford and I was tempted for a nanosecond.

  11. Yeah he does & Bruford has a lovely casual style when playing. None of this fearsome physical arm & shoulder effort to produce noise like a 5 year old but rather spot on timing and crisp wrist movement. The solo he does in the concert I posted is a case in point and at times it sounds like he is 'playing a tune' on them rather than just a beat.

Well it's a dull rainy Saturday morning and that's a real interesting piece... it's always a surprise how many top quality musicians there are out there that I have never heard of.

  13. I was lucky enough to see them one Christmas as support for Status Quo and very good they were too.

  14. Want to hear something weird ?

Weird for Beefheart anyway ..... playing "normal" music !
...... I love his solo playing on the gob-iron

He very quickly got that "normal" nonsense out of his system ......

  15. Sounds like a top night.... the quo are the same in that they aren't altogether acknowledged by the 'serious musos' & yes, are easy to take the piss out of, but for a good night you don't really need much more.

  16. Absolutely. I affectionately refer to Status Quo & Bryan Adams as Ronseal bands; nothing flash, just does what it says on the tin ;) And they both play fair on ticket prices :upyeah:
