  1. Hey guys ;)

What if special is not special enough? Feast your eyes on this super-exclusive Ducati 996 SPS/F Factory Replica. Only 150 were made in 1999:

  2. That’s bloody lovely although if I’m going to be extremely picky I hate that Michelin man logo on the front hugger.

  3. I wonder why they put the number 1 on the front, but not on the back...

  4. I'm sure that the rear seat unit is not painted correctly, as the green band is too think for the time period.
    happy to be corrected though

  5. And didn’t they make 200? Maybe even 201 with 1 being Foggy’s?

  6. This is the 1999 996 SPS Factory/Fogarty Replica. You're probably referring to the 1998 916 SPS Fogarty Replica :)

  7. The 916 Foggy rep was a UK only bike and the 200, or 202 if the rumours were right, were needed to homogolate a new frame, mid season. They had black wheels and although most got them fitted, the decals were supplied in a box for the dealers to fit. Some got lacquered in, some not. I’ve seen a couple with no decals at all.
iirc, these SPSF bikes were a later run for the rest of Europe…..maybe so they didn’t feel left out :p they were SPS with a decal kit. I think they did I a further run, so these in theory aren’t quite as rare. Can’t recall for sure, but there may have a been a similar thing done for the US to, but that was based on the S model as the SPS motor wouldn’t meet their emissions regs.
That one doesn’t look “quite right” to me? Dunno why, but it just doesn’t. The seat for starters as mentioned.
May be a little rarer, but for me, I’d take a genuine 916 Foggy for the provenance and nostalgia :)

  8. Standard bike with a sticker kit that they rolled out every year. Not so rare then :joy::joy::sob::joy:

  9. +1 and very well articulated by @nelly

Adding my 2p to that, all Foggy Rep's were fitted with mph clocks only (as they were intended for the UK market). Even the use of the "Moto Cinelli" decal on the tank had terittorial intellectual property licensing terms which is why it was not repeated on any other Ducati model but the true 202 Foggy Rep examples.

Come to think of it @Bologna998 , even for a 996 SPS/F (or "SPS/F Pista" as they were officially marketed to continental Europe, with a particular focus on the German market) there are many parts and decals not true to that model and model year (such as the Moto Cinelli tank, and the Playstation/Gnutti/Infostrada decals which were licensed to Ducati from much later sponsorships).

  10. So it's a 'super-rare' bitsa then?

I'm going to put some stuff off another bike onto mine - it'll then be 1/1 and even rarerer than this and I will be rich bwahaha!!!

  11. no grills in the seat unit either , like you say theres some thing about it

  12. I think I've figured it out with the help of another YT user: This seems to be 996 SPS/F, but with some wrong stickers/parts, e.g. the Moto Cinelli logo on the tank and the whole rear seat section, which probably comes from a Bayliss Rep. Tricky thing this ;)

It still is an SPS/F though. So I win :D

Just kidding, thanks for clarifying :upyeah:

  13. Talk about timing: its appears that a low mileage SPS/F with the correct story (somewhat 'polished' in the listings description), parts and most decals has been posted for sale by auction. Its worth checking it out to flesh out the differences or even bidding for it too if you like it that much (though the auction's house estimation of +20k is a much wishful aspiration for an import, even with the right crowd across the hammer):

  14. This is a Factory Replica 2 from 2000 (as opposed to the FR1 from 1999 I posted). It definitely doesn't have the Foggy decals. Assuming the sponsors were maybe not enitely the same that year (?), there might also be oher different stickers.

  15. Personally I don’t care how collectable these may be I don’t like all the decals.
