Ant other peeps had the above fail? Dealer re jigged the electric brain but no luck so now looking at a new unit which I guess is the normal Ducati bargain!!!!!! Bike 26 months old with 15,888 miles and FDSH. :frown:
Biot, ask the dealer to get onto Ducati and ask for a goodwill gesture on your behalf, its 2 months out of warranty with full history and only 15K. I used to work ini the motor trade as a senior service adviser for Mercedes and the amount of claims out of warranty that Merc would pay, you'd be surprised. Sometimes they will pay in full, others a 50/50 parts and labour and sometimes full parts and you pay the labour. Nothing to loose.
this has been a problem with the early bikes have had two replaced FOC under warranty, as there is a fair bit of history attached to this problem try as has been suggested getting Ducati to contribute to the cost.
My local dealer is trying to sort something out, so waiting on a phone call. It started playing up just before the warranty ran out and now it's u/s. Will see what Ducati say. Still loving the Mutley.
My steering lock has been intermittently failing to lock recently. I don't think the problem is with the lock itself, but rather with the sensors which detect that the steering has been turned fully to the side. Taking it in to the dealers on 16 July to be fixed. 18,000 miles and still under (extended) warranty.
It seems they have a very short life. Maybe they (Ducati) will do a retro manual steering lock set up in their parts listings.
Just been told by my dealer that a software update should cure my u/s steering lock. Will wait and see if it does. Trying to go in over next few days and get it done.
Well the prongs either side of the steering head are still there but now don't activate the lock. You just have to make sure the bars are fully left or right then hold the r/h/bar slide button down for 5 secs; ignoring the warning on the dash saying you've left the slide switch down!! The software upgrade ignores the prong electrical inputs apparently!
One electronic gadget to far in my opinion after being stranded in Wales, new unit fitted and still temperamental I gave up locking the steering
Yep see my earlier post. Swr upgrade overrides the craws, um, the claws..and yes hold down right hand slider for 3 seconds or so and bang out shoots the pin. Bada bing, bada boom. Done.
My software upgrade was done last week. Works fine. Obviously the procedure no longer corresponds with the handbook.
