Wsb Now The Premier Race Series ?

  1. Certainly the (much) better spectacle this weekend.

  2. Totally agree, they say the WSB Ducati is fast but its only one of them thats fast week in week out

  3. If it’s the premier series then MotoGP is really struggling… I’ve not really bothered with MotoGP this season as I just got so sick of all the ‘we can’t follow because of aero and tyre temperatures’ rubbish that seems to get worse and worse with every new iteration of fairings from the manufacture.

BSB good I think but even that’s struggling a bit with having the Ducatis dominant, admittedly they haven’t been but this year they took a step forward and the Yamaha etc reached its development limit and so I think it’s going a bit stale.

It’s always amazing to watch Toprak and Rae overriding those bikes though, Rea especially is so deep on the brakes all the time with the forks absolutely bottom out up to full lean, I don’t know how he gets away with it, even Toprak is off the brakes when he actually gets into the corner

  4. The quality of the racing was just ridiculous wasnt it.

    (Alonso Lopez take note)

  5. Finding moto gp dull as these days. Just no interesting characters. Ducati domination. Too much aero and TC.

  6. It may be the more interesting racing but its not the Premier Class, thats MGP, always will be, bit like saying you find championship football better than Premiership football, doesn't make it the premier class !!

  7. I suppose the term premier class becomes subjective as one person's definition wl differ from another's

  8. Premier usually boils down to money and attendances/popularity and that’s definitely where MGP comes out on top and has since the mid to late 90s.

  9. Yea but its position is reliant on many factors not least manufacturers and it doesnt have the support of the main ones.
If ducati pulled out of MotoGP it would die a death
That said F1 doesnt have much support either from manufacturers.
Most teams are now businesses that make money for themselves not the factory brand as such . Ferrari for example make no money making and racing cars but they make a fortune selling the brand, T-shits, caps, watches, umbrellas, you name it. £150 quid for a £25 quid nylon jacket anyone ?

does any of that produce better racing ? I watched about 5 laps of Moto2 till Dixon fell off (as usual) and that was it but i was glued to the WSB this weekend.

  10. Which, considering spectators on the day and worldwide TV coverage, puts you in the minority compared to MotoGP. I don’t however disagree that the tussles between AB, TR and JR these last (almost) 3 seasons has made for great and possibly unmissable viewing. That hasn’t always been the case though, remember 6 years of (boring) dominance by Kawasaki and JR. Andy

  11. only matched by 8 years of (boring) dominance by MM in Mopto GP ?

    just joking :)

  12. I thought Hodgson put this particular argument to bed quite nicely at the weekend (for once ;) ) ...

"Ask Alvaro which world title he'd prefer to win".

  13. On that assumption then
did you watch both races this weekend
Did you find the WSB better than the MotoGP ?
I bet nearly everyone did.... Was that a World record for lead changes in the last few laps of WSB ?
Don't get me wrong, MotoGP has a place but its corporate and financial like F1.. People go for the atmosphere and the nonsense, lets face it no one goes for the racing or they would watch it on TV and get a much better view.

Look at what you have ? bikes that no one can ride ? when MM falls off 6 times in a weekend because the bike is unrideable, when even Casy Stoner says he would never return to ride all the while the bikes have wings and traction control and makers like Kawasaki, Suzuki, BMW cant be bothered to even put up team and makes like Honda and Yamaha cant even be competitive, what does that tell you about the Sport ? There was even a rumour this weekend that Dorna want to sell the brand ...lol

  14. I watched both races and enjoyed both of them. The MotoGP race in particular was incredible.

  15. Same for both.

  16. I suppose every generation thinks what they have/had is/was the best
I grew up standing on a muddy bank at brands with Roberts and Sheene , Croxford, Williams, Lawson, Read and even Rocket Ron :)
In those days we had the transatlantic trophy where the best Yanks would come over and race the best Brits , usually with 8-10 on each team...these days i doubt neither side could put up a team. It was usually 6 races, 3 venues over the easter weekend. WSB started as the support race in 86 ? i think.

  17. No idea about that, but I very well remember being in the packed stands at Brands Hatch watching Fogarty. I lived near there for most of my life. Loved watching Kevin Schwantz do his thing as well.

  18. We were at Brands in 99 (at least I think it was 99, the year Foggy chunked a tyre?), incredible atmosphere.

  19. Moto gp is the pinnacle of every riders careers, always has been and always will be. Not trying to be an arse or say one's "better" than the other its just how it is,

With regards this year I love both wsb and moto gp but cant help feel if toprak wasnt in wsb right now, it would be dull as dishwater.
(Didnt alvaro win the first 15 races or something daft?)
Look how close moto gp is right now.
