Most prices being asked for these models seem quite optimistic, and probably don't often refect the final 'sold for...' figure. I think, like most things, demand will rise and fall in cycles and as they become scarcer the value will eventually rise a bit, similar to old cars, other type of antiques, etc.. Economic cycles also have a bearing as people look to put money into tangible assets in times of uncertainty. But significant increases occur over a long period of time so not really expecting anything I own to make me money... it might be a different story for my sons kids, if he has any and if he keeps my bikes in a decent level of nick...

Ducati 916 SPS smashes UK auction price record | MCN (motorcyclenews.com) There's little doubt in my mind these mileage related prices will deter some owners from riding these fantastic bikes as much as they should.
These bikes are meant to be enjoyed and ridden so I hate to see them hidden away in someone's collection for investment purposes only. Don't really see my 998 going up in value at the moment regardless I want to enjoy it as much as I can while I can. 44k on it so far which is low considering its a 21 year old bike but I've had multiple bikes over the years otherwise that would have been north of 100k. This happened to my dream bike, Laverda Jota (180degree crank), I had the opportunity to buy a restored one in 2012 for $12,000 Canadian. Now with collectors scooping them up they are priced out of my means. 18,000 pound sterling for a excellent example in the UK so Canadian doubtful can find one under 30k, so that dream is dead for me :-(.
You'd be surprised. Last of the Tamburini bikes will always be valued. They're few and far between in this neck of the woods.
Some seem to think that Ducatis are "special" in that they will explode any second once they get over 20k miles.I know of at least three mates who have Ducatis with north of 50k miles on them. I recently sold a 998r after owning it for 20 years, it had just short of 30k miles on and I got a bit more than I paid for it, that was just a bonus and the investment value was never a consideration 20 years ago. I was bought to be used and it was. The beauty of a nice bike or car is using as it was intended to be used and nice reaction you get from others seeing it being used.
A good few years ago I thought prices couldn't get much higher, I was in the MV Owners club back then and lusted after a America but couldn't stretch to the 15K needed, kicking myself now. Back then I met a guy in France who had just picked up the rarest of Americas, it was badged BOXER, which he only paid slightly more than 15K for. There were only two that left the factory like that before Ferrari served legal papers. He was touring on it.
