  2. They are not difficult to work on, depends what you want to with it? If you are dropping the motor out you will need 2 specific castle sockets. I get suff like that from here:

I got as many other bits and bobs from wemoto.
Haynes manual is a must, genuine Suzuki manuals are online or through gsxr forums for free. There's a lot of hot air on gsxr forums, especially the ones over the pond. I always bag and label bits that come off the bike, freezer bags are cheap and do the job. Take your time and enjoy, winter is long enough not to hurry!

  3. Top end of 4 strokes isn't the nightmare you might think it is, really. Doing the heads on a 998 was my first ducati restoration, it wasn't anywhere near as complex as journalists would have you believe. Follow the manual, take your time, check everything 3 times etc, no problem. A second pair of eyes always good too when things get tricky.

  4. Thanks for the tool shop link. I will be using that one for sure in the future but for now I can browse the site and learn a bit about the tools I never knew existed

  5. I'd agree... time, patience and lots of reading before you start.

When doing the Darmah heads I mounted them on a stand and was able to do the work in the comfort of the house, on the dining room table to be exact. This may not be possible with all heads but doing it a comfortable, clean environment greatly helps.
