Replaced the V-Raptor's battery at the weekend, for a Bosch, and in the spec details it mentioned it shouldn't be used at angles greater than 45 degrees... however it lies pretty close to horizontal on the bike. This is the first time I've heard or read such a thing so is it just summat to cover their backs or does the battery life/performance degrade quicker when tilted at greater angles? Being AGM it should be spill proof.
Wouldn't bank on them all being spill/leak proof at all... I've no issues with Yuasa, ever. Same goes for Motobatt. BS batteries....useless at anything other than vertical. GS battery state "vertical use only" and they're owned by Yuasa but possibly why they're cheaper than the Yuasa equivalent?
Surprises me that not all are actually spill proof when the raison d'etre of an AGM battery is to be spill proof... hey ho. But does it affect their performance I wonder.
Don’t honestly know Andy. Was my understanding to… A few years back, we gave BS batteries a try. As batteries they were ok, but had two failures on a S4 and a 999. Both caused quite a bit of damage too. BS wouldn’t help either blaming us for incorrect filling? I followed their instructions to the T and left another on its side on the bench. Pissed itself overnight….. that was the last one I bought
I must admit I've never heard of BS batteries... a seemingly appropriate name though I get mine from Tayna and I notice they don't stock them... I have used both of their cheap options, Enduroline & Powerline plus Yuasa all with no leakage problems. As for their performance/durability that is difficult to tell because of the reg/rec consistently blowing them up before their time.
