If they’d update us with a smartphone compartment that was actually big enough to fit a phone in that would be worth their effort.
Can’t recall, but Ducati have stuck a fixed time against it which may or not be adhered to. Either way it means it’ll take longer than they think Just for the record, neither are “recalls” as such. The phone compartment is a customer request option and Ducati will pay for the parts. The easy lift is a software update done as part of the day to day servicing. Originally introduced within another technical update some time ago. Iirc, if the bikes been serviced this year, it should already be installed…
I asked my dealer about the cost to fit the telephone pocket. He said that the tank cover has to come off and it could be expensive to fit (between one and two hours labour. Has anyone had it done yet? On the software update for the "Easy Lift", he said it is a quick update. They have done it to one bike and neither the dealer or the owner of the bike could tell any difference.
I had the Easy Lift update done at my latest service a few weeks back. I couldn’t tell the difference and called to find out what difference I could expect. The dealer said as I was tall and never had any issues with the side or center stand use I likely wouldn’t notice much, consistent with my experience. Attached is some information they provided. Since I use a Quadlock with my AyePhone or have it in my pocket when it rains I doubt I’ll do the ventilation update. My opinion may change if I need to pull the existing covers.
I popped into Ducati Aylesbury and asked about the ventilated phone compartment. I had a look at the replacement parts which include a fan in the cover. The fan requires power and is connected into the loom by modifying an existing connector to the BBS (Black Box System?). The fan also has it has to be enabled by the dealer. The installation time has been determined by Ducati at 43 minutes, which works out at £45 at Ducati Aylesbury.
Is it me or isn’t this a totally pointless upgrade for anyone other than those with an iPhone 6 era? My 13 just doesn’t fit.
iPhone 13 Pro fits, well mine does. New lid fitted with the fan in it and to be fair it blows a decent volume of air over the phone.
