V4 Joining The V4 - Do I Need To Change My Name?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Twin4me, Oct 9, 2023.

  1. After resisting having a test ride on the V4 until now I finally broke and bought one to take advantage of the Ducati offer last month. I was going to wait for the Grand Tour but wasn't convinced by the paint job and the offer made it cheaper to buy the current model.

As my User name has been Twin4Me do I now need to change it to V4Me!

My 1260S is for sale in case anyone is interested before it gets P/Exed

Oh and of course I bought the more exclusive (and faster) white version.

The 1260S was a great bike, here's a picture in a moody Glen Coe

  2. I didn't think it would take much longer for you to 'convert' you over to the "Other-side"........:scream::eyes:

  3. I haven’t owned my 853cc 748sp for 10 or 12 years but I’m still Android853sp. Wouldn’t be the same after all these years. Andy

  7. You could always opt for, 'Twin4MeOrnotTwin4Me', as in '2bOrnot2b'...
    A bit of a mouthful though:dizzy:

  8. So... what made up your mind for you ?
Was it just time for a new machine anyway, or did the V4 just win you over with its benefits over your current 1260 ?

  9. I’ve been holding off riding the V4, I’m still not 100% convinced by the looks plus my bike did everything I asked of it.
However my 4 year warranty has just run out and I was tempted by the new Grand Tour version so whilst my bike was being serviced I took out a V4S and really liked the whole feel of the bike, loved the engine and found the handling very neutral and stable.

Did I need to change, not really in truth as I don’t commute anymore and the bike was still relatively low mileage but sometimes when you get an itch you have to scratch it!

  10. I didn’t like looks of the Multi V4 when it was launched, still not convinced by the looks of the double sided swing arm & 19” front wheel, but as soon as I saw the Pikes Peak, all that changed.

  11. I wasn’t really bothered by the Pikes Peak as I think you pay through the nose for it plus I like the electronic suspension and radar.

I am a tart about how things look (design background) but it’s how it rides really that’s important. I thought the 19” front made low speed steering much easier.

  12. The Pikes Peak has electronic suspension and radar. Sorry!

  13. Ok my mistake, I thought was manual Ohlins like the previous model. Still overpriced IMHO, almost £5k more for more power than I need, fancy paint, exhaust, small wheels and SS swing arm… I’m happy with my choice and think it’s more practical for normal riding and touring. This will be my 4th Multi so I know what I like.

Oh and I don’t like the random number 1 and purple paint patch! :)

  14. The PP doesn’t have more power though. It’s the same engine.

  15. I sat on the V4 in Ducati Aylesbury the other week, and must confess the ergonomics were great for me straight off, at 6'3" with long arms and legs. I liked the flatter seat too (Had my 1260 re-shapped into a flatter profile as the U shape was just awful).
I've got my 1260 just where I like it now having done the seat, the 42 tooth conversion, added the tour pack etc etc.. coming up for 3 year ownership soon and I only do 1000 to 1500 a year on it.
It currently only has 7K on the clock
(I own another bike plus an old Mercedes R129, so share out the journeys between 3 summer toys)
So I don't need to change, I'm not looking to change....
Now my 2019 model 1260 is due to go in for cam belts next year, and I thought I ask for the V4 as a loaner all day while they do it.
If the engine is smoother... and its comfortable to ride, and I've got the money.... then just maybe.... ;)

  16. You should keep your name as it shows your heritage and is a good talking point for old farts.

  17. I thought it had a RACE mode (maybe no more power though, just the way it's delivered?)

  18. Old bike dropped off, pick up the new one on Thursday.
