No mention of which safety standard the helmet meets. The FIM standard is not recognised for retail to the public. Andy
From your link, certainly looks like it ticks all the boxes. Interesting it's a multi fibre shell ..... just like the Shoei. Andy
Says available July on the U.K. site, comes with race and road spoiler so hopefully it will be road legal. Nice looking lid.
the shop I tried one on in today have been told February for there stock so will soon see? If it’s like the one they had it I’ll have one
£850 x2 visors, a proper carry case, pin lock and tear offs. See how close they are, apparently the same lid will be at the nec?
Hmmmm, nice but not that nice. Shame as I am in the market for a new lid so would have been interested around the £5-600 mark.
I think at that price point it puts it with the arai rx7 and top end shoei, think the graphic carbon ones are a bit nearer the 1k so agv pista?
Limited edition now sold out, other colourways available from February. The European site looks to be using info directly lifted out of their US web site. I can see a reference to the US DOT safety standard approval. Andy
There was a dot sticker on the back in the usual place but as the guy was saying about the aero on the side is still being tested and a few other bits I didn’t pay to much attention. Couldn’t work out who’s making them for them though as is nothing like the top two brands and nothing I could see that stood out on any other lid?
Just to give an idea on size, I’m a medium with arai rx7 and lite 803 carbon but was told this alpinestar lid comes up small? Found that to be true as a large fitted me spot on.
its going to be Ece220.06 or whatever the very latest standard is, they aren’t phoning this in, but…. Mates in the trade are telling me that in colours it’s going to be £1500…. my mate was saying things like the dipped sides on the visor were requested by the riders, they have really put the thought into this lid. I’ll wait and see though, I’m not sure I can quite believe they can beat companies like Shoei and Arai who focus 100% on helmets only
If it’s got DOT accreditation, it’ll breeze through ECE22-06. If £1500 is the price point, the helmet is not for mere mortals like us. Although, if you are going to spunk £34k on a V4R, whats another £1500 ? Andy
Be interesting to see the price point as have been told by two different people who will be selling them, the block colours are 850 and the graphics are between a grand & 1500? In my opinion the arai rx7 looks very dated with the shoei looking moden and sharp, in the flesh the alpinestar lid looks very aggressive and very thought out, be interesting to see how noisy and stable it is once on the bike?
