Rugby World Cup 2023

  1. It all went wrong when they appointed Steve Borthwick as England Coach. The current English rugby management need to be culled, root and branch. Andy

  2. I must admit the rules around scrummaging always defeat me. A scrum is usually given for some minor offence that doesn't warrant a full blown penalty e.g. a forward pass, an accidental knock on etc and was just a method for getting the ball back into play. Like a line out.

However it appears more and more to just be an opportunity for one side or the other to get a full blown penalty by means of a quite complex set of rules concerning the front row e.g. turning hips, lifting, pulling down an opponent etc. Both of South Africa's meaningful scores came from such an event.

And if that sounds like sour grapes then it is... to have the match winning kick from an infringement at a scrum that was given for a high ball attempted catch knock on just don't seem right to me.

  3. Fuck no. I’ve been too busy to watch a single game since it started. About 3 years back

  5. Ha! however only where England are concerned... :)

It has to be said I'm not altogether bothered if Ireland, France, Wales et al fall foul to such decisions

  6. Opinions are like arseholes, everybody has one and they all stink.!

  7. When playing at the pinnacle of the sport, mediocrity is indefensible and that is what England are, mediocre. Andy

  8. Probably not as i'm all done for this year, they need to sort out the refereeing and TMO for me.!

  9. They've been to quite a few world cup finals over the years.!

  10. Did you guys notice that there was almost zero TMO action in the past few games, notably when BOK is field ref? Refereeing and the way rules are enforced seem to have significantly changed since the September pool matches…

  11. The tournament is still going? Didn’t it start 12 months ago?

More of a footie fan myself rather than failed footballers :p

  12. Usual negative play by England, they never play to win, they only play not to lose. They conceded a penalty within' kicking range and then try to blame the Ref, stupid, stupid play. And Farrell is a total WankPuffin.

  13. They very nearly won that game, which most people didn’t expect, I certainly didn’t.

Only 1 team will win the competition, ALL the others go home disappointed at some point.
The fact is England did a hell of a lot better than most people expected. Harsh crowd.

  14. Perhaps their panel of experts have been sent home on the bus like others,;)...
Anyway has anyone been googling Tom Curry's comments about the SA hooker Bongi words directed at him during the match, shocking if true and should've been red carded on the spot.
Nothing'll be done about it as they'll want to protect the rugby brand no doubt, also this doesn't help England after the horse has bolted the stables.

  15. That’ll be kicked into the long grass very quickly. I’ll be surprised if anything comes of it. Of course had it been the other way round…. WW fekin 3….

  16. Same thing ye divvy. Bit dicey playing for a draw in rugby…

Much to my surprise, England nearly won that match…. And the world nearly shat itself

  17. My comments were purely based on unacceptable language from a professional sportsman on a live world stage and nothing else, but totally in agreement with your post words.

  19. Not strictly true. Some people who suffer from a condition known as imperforate anus are born without one, and also, some people with Crohn’s disease sometimes need to have theirs surgically removed.

    Every day’s a school day……:D

  20. This is true of both my late father and a good friend and both for different reasons.
