Ahhh... Thank you!! now I remember where I was informed that it takes about 2 hours for the oil to drain back into the sump...it was at the dealer where I had the service done, for the next service I was advised to try and come 2-3 hours before my actual appointment time.. I dismissed it thinking it was just a rude method of swaying people to leave the bike rather than wait for it.
Not sure if mentioned previously but could be they've removed and replaced filter, then filled bike with oil, checking sight glass too quickly thinking it's at correct level before allowing oil. to cycle through the filter.
It took a full 2 days for mine to register that there was oil in it, honestly wasn't that worried at first but a full 24 hrs later, and no oil in the sight....yeah I got a little worried Yesterday after topping off with appx. 200 ml the level is right where I prefer..dead smack between the Hi-Low marks This morning now I'm at the max line? WTF honestly 100ml would of been just fine or not topping off at all (but to be cautious I had to) I don't ride below 45 degrees F but now another question came up- During first start up for the day If it takes this long for cold or even warm oil to flow back and get pumped again wouldn't the lower be starved for oil while waiting for that oil to return or is there a built in reserve for the lower end?
Sounds like a noob move and I hope not...At a minimum I would hope they start the bike to ensure the oil light goes out, check for leaks, then as an option let it run for a min, then verify level, but time is money, I assume refilling with the specified amount, oil light went out, and no leaks is good enough and doesn't warrant final verification.. this is one reason why I miss the old timers, these guys never let a machine leave the shop over or underfilled... I'm one of those at a previous life
