Without opening the whole debate again about the pros and cons of chain oilers has anyone found a suitable mounting position for an Xsystem? https://www.scottoiler.com/products/xsystem/ The position they suggest is a bit pants looking https://marketingengineer.de/article/multistrada-v4s-2020.html
Ive had Scott oilers and would be happy to fit one to my Multistrada V4S, but it needs to look better than the pictures on the link. Im watching with keen interest.
I've fitted my Scottoiler Xsystem on the rear subframe on the left hand side which gives the shortest runs for the power connection to battery and the oil pipe to the swingarm and rear sprocket. The only problem I've found is getting the self adhesive pad to stick because of the relative movement of swingarm. It doesn't get in the way when riding and it's easy to see the display and change the setting. Have you got your puncture fixed yet?
If you mount a small 5mm thick rubber insert, the type that is put on the legs of washing machines or dryers, for example, it is just enough to free the small protrusion that it has where the seat support is screwed and free the black protector under the tail, which can be placed perfectly at the top and further inwards from the center, thus being much more discreet, and not disturbing either suitcases or the passenger's legs.
and then under the tube protected behind the red frame, with a thin red braided sheath so that it does not stand out, when reaching the turn of the swingarm, inserted in another 5mm thick tube of hard rubber, so that with the movement of the swingarm I did not close the passage of the thin tube of the scotoiler, and once I reached the horizontal again inside the braided cover, this time in black. By the way, since I don't trust the adhesive accessories that hold the tube, with a tiny plastic flange, as they pass next to the two plastic protectors at the bottom of the chain, I leave it in a sort of ajola, without squeezing the tube in case the adhesive comes off, the tube does not fall, get caught and get messed up. I'll put a couple more photos for you.
I just use this. Chain is clean, and stays lubricated. No issues with over a year of riding with it: https://www.amazon.com/DuPont-Chain...upont+dry+film+chain+lube,aps,149&sr=8-2&th=1
Thanks but I know what the strong feelings Scott oilers generate both for and against so I don’t want to open up the can of worms again!!! I’m only trying to find a sensible mounting position (at the moment I’m not that happy with the proposals as it hides the lovely red frame.)
Here's mine. I've got rid of the sticky pad underneath as it didn't stay fixed. I used zip ties instead.
