Panniers Alternative To Ducati Official Ones

Discussion in 'Supersport (2016 onwards)' started by DucatiTriumph, May 1, 2022.

  1. Hi bought my 2019 SS a couple of days ago, posted in newbie section, especially in order to go on tours.

I’m very impressed with it, super comfy, loud termi, heated grips!

I just missed it on a good deal with the official Ducati panniers. So I got my current bike with with the extras minus the panniers.

I looked at buying the official ones…. They’re nearly £1k….. how’s that even make sense for a couple of boxes made of plastic.

as I only want to occasionally use them, I want something I can take on and off as the boxes/packs themselves but also easy to take the frame on/off too, I’m a sportsbiker so leaving the frame on will be ugly and spoil the beauty.

anyone got any cheaper alternatives? I’d potentially like to take a pillion so panniers make a lot of sense.

there are a lot out there that say they are general fit…. How all bikes are different and £3-400 is a lot to make a mistake with

  2. If they have to be hard plastic then this suggestion is no good but I have SW Motech blaze panniers for my 1098.
I wanted to use them on my F4 as well but they don't make a fitting kit for that.
They supplied me with a spare set of the support arm blocks and I made the mounting brackets myself using the 1098 arms
If they make them to fit your bike they cost around £300

  3. Try looking up Shad panniers, I think they make a fitting kit and boxes or semi rigid bags for the SS. Probably around £400 all in.

  4. Keep an eye on eBay for a used set. But make sure they come with all the fixings (including the important ones that replace the standard tail piece ones). You can buy all the fixings separately from a Ducati dealer but it’s easier if they’re included.
The frame takes 5-10mins to remove once fitted. So you could keep it off until you need it (after initial fit), but I’ve just left mine on. You soon forgot they’re there.

  5. I have some Shad panniers to sell if you’re interested? Frame fits with 2 bolts. Panniers are not solid but pre formed and not “squishy”

You will need to put items in water proof bags tho. I use ruck sack liners at a fiver each.

  6. They’re dead easy to fit they come with water proof covers but they aren’t great. They hold a fair bit of kit too.

Selling because I’m a tart and bought new Ducati ones which cost a small fortune.
£150 for these? I honestly can’t remember what I paid for them
    Or make me an offer

  11. I’ve just been looking at prices, you can get the panniers for £135-150 and the bracket for £80-90. These have been used once on a trip to Scotland. I have since sprayed them with Autoglym soft top protector/water proofed, I haven’t used them since.

If you’re interested you can make an offer, they must be worth £100-150? All in.

  12. I’ve just got back from a short tour using the factory panniers. I was pleasantly surprised. They didn’t adversely effect the bikes handling, we’re big enough for 4 days and all the admin stuff I carried, plus they looked good. It was lovely weather so I didn’t try the waterproof covers. If you can bag a second hand pair for £500 they’re ok. But I wouldn’t pay £1000
