New shape 848 / baby 1199?

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Ducatibob848, Feb 20, 2013.

  1. But the R&D to design all that costs money, why change for changes sake?

  2. The front end looks wrong to me. Is that the final shape? Or is it just the angle of the photo?

  3. As has been mentioned before, maybe that was all done when they originally designed Project 0801 (the official title of the Panigale!) so it was always on the cards.

I'm sure that a bean counter somewhere would be able to work out that making the swingarm a standard cast dual-arm would be €some cheaper than the fabricated single-sided making a saving of €lots over the number of expected sales and therefore it was worth doing.

  4. DSSA doesnt suit it

  5. Those rear foot pegs need to come off...

Is this picture In an article or something online? Can't find a reference to it any where

  6. You need better contacts!

  7. The image has had all the metadata stripped from it, so it's been 'cleaned' by someone who knew someone like me would check....

  8. [IMG]this quick check of the image shows it is unlikely to have been digitally altered, although it depends how many copies of the image have been made as to how good the results are

  9. Looks like a genuine test mule(?).

I believe there were two targets as such. Those being 150bhp with a wet weight of 165 kgs (?).

I like the swingarm but tge 3 spoke wheels dont go.

Going out on a limb, it will be called the 849....its got a new engine agterall hasnt it....?

  10. 899 according to the Ducati website evidence and bolds who has been right so far

  11. The bit that really needs redesigning is the front. If they made it look like a Desmo, it would be well cool. I really don't like the look of the Panigale head-on.

  12. looking again at that bike pictured...

That front end looks exactly the same as current 848 BUT i reckon the front end is(forks/brakes) not the same as the current Panigale.

    Exciting...

  13. It's just the angle, as the front of the bike is pointed away from the viewer in this image. Superbike magazine have run the image as well.

As has been said before it's the 899 though I was told it has a 900cc engine in the same way as the 848 is 849cc

  14. how old is that no dates ...

mind you if its recent I see that they still havnt worked out that the weight of the swing arm material should be under the pivot to wheel centre line...........isnt that a fundamental issue with the fannygale and the gp bike.......

  15. thats what being president of a big club gets ya..........:wink:

  16. Wow it looks like a Panigale. But with a smaller engine

  17. You're not allowed to like it:mad:

It's customary for the ducatisti to hate every new bike simply because it doesn't have a steel trellis frame and bevel gears. Saying you like it straight off the bat will throw the luddites into a right old tizzy.

  18. Give them a call, I'm sure they would need some advice on how to build it.

Cant believe folk still won't admit there is a 899 on the way. Clutching at straws a bit now by doubting

  19. I hate it. Where's the trellis frame?!? A double sided swing arm??? It'll have spring operated valves next!!!

    ... How was that?
