I’m on my third pair of winter boots, finally I have Shimano are really good, but are best in cold conditions.
It’ll be read by more folk if you post it in the TdF thread. There are more who follow the TdF but who don’t frequent this thread.
right knee behaving on last two short rides so took a chance and have done around 22 miles non-assisted and so far got away with it.
I’ve ordered Castelli PIOGGIA 4 overshoes, which I hope will be here tomorrow and allow me to wear my summer shoes for my short commute.

I used to wear Sealskin socks when green laning, they did keep me dry but were not that comfortable. I wore the new Castelli overshoes yesterday and they were great, dry feet, no water ingress anywhere including down my legs. I will see how they perform over the whole winter.
The nice gravel bike was cleaned and hung up in the garage today. Any evening rides will be on the old faithful Pinnacle commuter bike until the spring .
Yep, that's me also. Carbon ribble and fill suss genius now mothballed until spring. Orange h/tail and old spark will take on the winter mtb 'ing, ally ribble will take the roads and I've just readied my old kona hybrid as work bike. The bigger rides are harder to get in this time of year but little and often keeps my hours up.
20 miler tonight after work, cold dark and lonely. Legs felt like I was pedalling in treacle. The old heavier bike, mud, head not in it? . All of the above probably.
Yesterday I took the day off specifically to cycle because I’m very busy at work and my assistant is off for the next 2-1/2 weeks and I might not have time to get out. When I was loading my bike on the rack to meet a mate I found the crank wasn’t turning properly so ended up at Stonehenge Cycles, my LBS who kindly took me straight into the workshop, replaced the NDS crank bearing which was toast. What amazed me was the cost £19.99 fitted, I thought that was incredible VFM. To be fair I could have done it myself, if only I had the bearing and compression tool! Anyway I arrived at my mates 90 minutes late so we had to reduce our planned 50 mile ride to the New Forest to 40 miles near the New Forest! Still it was a good ride for November and we enjoyed excellent coffees with microwaved pasties at Wolvercroft garden centre. 282.4 miles to go for this years goal
That’s good service repairing your bike at very short notice. Take them cake and or biscuits next time. Whenever I visit repeat sites for work I take cakes in as a thankyou when they’ve helped me out.
