Is This Anything To Worry About?

  1. Hey :)

See attached pics, it appears the handlebars on my V4P have moved (note the paint(?) markings). My bike has these on nuts n bolts all over the bike, these are the only 1's afailk that are not aligned, meaning they've come a bit loose? Do I need to do something about it? The handlebars feel solid and don't move.

  2. If your worried, check what the torque settings are for those and re-torque to the factory values etc .

  3. I would but I don't own a torque wrench and have the mechanical skills of a jellyfish. I think I'll be ok to wait to my annual service in feb 24 and ask the mechanic to take a look?

  4. Good idea. From the pictures and assuming you can’t simply turn the bolts using light finger pressure I’d say they have been over tightened at some point.

  5. I recall, at one time, Multistradas were delivered in the crate with the handle bars not mounted in the top yoke. As the bar would be fitted during PDI, it is unlikely the factory assembly paint marks will line up. It may be nothing more sinister than that. If you have any doubt, swing by your dealer (on a dry day) sooner rather than later. Andy

  6. …or put a socket on it and try and tighten it up so they line up again?

(but if you knuckles go white it’s probably tight enough)

  7. Try taking both out and swap them over? They might have been taken out, not sure why, and not put back in their original bar…

  8. If I worked at the factory I’d paint that on every nut and bolt. Pffft…. :D

  9. Looking at those pictures they look like they are done up tighter than they were, maybe someone nipped em up a bit at some point.

  10. Nipped up by someone with no torque wrench and the view that if some is good, more is better?

  11. @Cris_, watched them uncrate my PP today and the handle bars are stowed to one side of the bike on a plastic transit support. This support is clamped using the handle bar clamp so it needs to be undone and removed to properly mount the handle bars. If as nelly has said, the bolts are not put back in the hole they came out of, the paint marks aren't going to line up. Andy
