I see from FB that Ben will defend his 2023 SuperSport title and Christian will contest the Superbikes again, both with Oxford Racing and Moto Rapido next year. Andy
I think there is potential for Iddon to get a load of podiums next year. I think the field are coming for Ben Currie though, I think there will be more 765 triumphs and GSXR750’s out there. supersport is in danger of becoming the most interesting championship. Superbike can’t really afford for the Panigale v4 to be so dominant next year, as the Yamaha and Kawasaki hasn’t been updated and were really lagging last year
I agree but there was talk in the paddock at Brands that Stuart will be introducing additional balancing rules for 2024. There is serious safety concerns that the superbikes are already too fast for the smaller circuits and cannot get any quicker. Okay, that might be seen as dumbing down but the racing needs to be safe as well as competative. Be interesting to see how many teams dust off their old GSXR 750's Andy
Well…. The interesting thing is, some have jumped on the gsxr750’s are too fast and cheating etc…. However, Astro said they will do half a season before they even need to check the valve clearances, where as the 600 IL4 teams (R6’s) are doing two rounds then spending £5k on an engine refresh, so circa £50k per bike just in engine refresh. The electronic balancing has to be the way to go. part of the reason currie won so much was because the bike was good, but it was a properly funded team. The next Ducati was Luke jones perhaps, with almost no sponsorship of note
Looking forward to seeing what Iddon can do now a year under his belt. Really would love to see him win the title. Still not decided on the t00’s balancing rules thing. And what you save by not checking valves etc you lose when every 750 gets protested for being too fast and checked for cheating
