I was just thinking this morning what we need is more cameras in this country to monitor and fine us.
whenever you see a bright yellow box on a bright yellow post that looks like a camera, ease off the throttle a go past it a the prescribed speed, then when safely past yellow box, increase throttle again
Yep I’ll be more concerned/pissed off when they start lashing average speed cameras on “normal” roads.
Some police forces are getting sneakier in almost hiding them. My mate and I got done doing 34 and 35 mph respectively in Lincolnshire. I was looking out for cameras and didn't spot it at the time. It was positioned behind greenery on the inside of the bend. By the time it would have been visible, my eyesight was checking for hazards exiting the factory turning on the outside of the corner. Not really fair play IMO, but difficult and time consuming to contest.
I may be out of touch but I thought they were meant to be easily visible so they act as a speeding deterrent. Doesn’t allowing the camera to become obscured leave the conviction open to challenge?
I don’t understand how these new cameras can capture the registration numbers of a forward moving motorcycle, and the above article doesn’t explain this The old ‘traditional’ one have been replaced near to me and from what I can see is these new ones can now capture both sides of the road, but they face the same way. Whereas before they would photo the back of a speeding vehicle only, they now can photo the back and front of opposite moving lanes. Maybe we’ll see a return of mudguard mounted registration plates, or bar codes on helmets.
I find it utterly shocking that someone might spend as much as £39.99 on Amazon for a cordless angle grinder, complete with battery and charger, in order to put it to such use. Disgusting behaviour. I say, bring back the birch.
Already in use in the Manchester area, https://www.gmp.police.uk/news/grea...eveloped,road fatalities and serious injuries. Andy
had a Vector SR operating local to me for over 3 years, I think I posted it up on here around that time.
OK , but did you do the decent and socially responsible thing , and chop it down with a 40 quid angle grinder ? ...... ( ..... just asking for a friend )
This reminds me of the twin-gatso (so both directions) mast that was pulled down at Merrow probably 10 years ago or more - someone calmly chained it up to his 4X4 before towing it down. I know this because somebody filmed the whole thing. I never found out what happened to the "perpetrator" or whether they even caught him. (it wasn't me)

The Gatso units get burned out round where I live. When you’ve 6 Gatso units in the space of 6 miles with the speed limits varying between 30/40/50, folk get upset when they get ticketed….. Anyway off to my driver awareness course for 64 in a 50…..
