  2. I took Iggy to the vets for blood tests today as he’s been incredibly thirsty all the time for a few weeks now.

I’ll get the results tomorrow or Monday.

I’m worried sick as none of the likely diagnoses ie: kidney failure, diabetes or Addison's disease, seem to have a very good long term outlook. On a positive note, he seems ok in himself, he has plenty of energy, he isn’t dehydrated, he’s still packed with muscle and his coat and eyes are shiny.

  3. We have one of our last litter puppies staying for three weeks with us while the owners visit the USA. She has settled in a treat .

  7. Class…I can’t figure out who is happiest:):upyeah:

  8. And the dog...? :D

  9. There are many non-sinister reasons why a dog might start to drink more than usual. Chin up, keep positive and fingers crossed it's one of those. This time of year throws all kinds of crap at dogs that enjoy the outdoors

  11. Keep us updated, will keep my fingers crossed - As JB said hopefully one of the non-sinister things rather than Dr Google's view

Had a visit from one of the pups the other day, they are way bigger than her already and just approaching 6months

  12. Thanks for the kind messages.

Iggy’s blood test results are back and thankfully there’s no sign of kidney failure or diabetes. His liver levels are a little bit high but not so high as to indicate cancer or liver disease. The next step is hormonal tests to rule out Addisons or Cushings.

The vet is a bit mystified as to why he’s so thirsty because although he’s lost a bit of weight he is in very good condition and is extremely active and alert (too bloody active sometimes, but that’s spaniels for you, lol).

The constant thirst is still worrying though - when I came in from watching Napoleon at the cinema with my sons last night he wolfed down 4 bowls of water in a row and then another two before he went to bed an hour later. Then he woke my eldest son up at 6am because he was crying to be let out of his crate, having wet his bedding and also because he was crazy thirsty again.

  13. Any more pics of the pup, so we can see its face? Sorry I referred to them as an “it” but I can’t see a pee pee, plus I don’t know preferred their pronouns and didn’t want to assume.

  14. Thats great news about the blood tests - hopefully it passes soon and back to normal, please keep us updated on the little guy.

  15. Sorry been meaning to put some updates, I met up with them for a play date a few weeks ago at a dog park in the middle of us all

This one is Dexter - he was always the biggest one as a puppy, timid little boy (Dexters owners mum has the other puppy, which is about the cutest little thing ive ever seen)
    Image (9).jpg
This is Derek, he lives with our neighbours so see him a bit more
    Image (8).jpg
This one is Luna, she was such a quiet little girl but her new owner loves her to bits, and shes such a good little girl

This has to be the funniest pic of Derek from next door, hes a chewer like his mum :) Image-Pup1.jpg

  16. Weve got quite a large number of the god squad living amongst us round our way, who i've found over the years tend to be the most miserable po-faced unwelcoming youth hating weirdos going and my neighbor of about three doors down falls into this category.
I often see her on the river path going in the opposite direction and she would happily walk past me with her dog without saying a word if i allowed her to (i've been her neighbor for over 4 years now and i don't even know her name but always without fail force an overly enthusiastic "good morning" out).
Today her dog (large poodle - think Roly out of east enders but black) attacked my Kenny and she did absolutely nothing. She watched my dog limp away and couldnt even muster an "im sorry is he ok?".
Presumably the kind of behavior her funny little book recommends but to say i was annoyed is an understatement and younger me would have "bitten back".
Moral of the story....if your dogs a bit of a prick, it's likely you might be too.:)

  17. I’ve had similar happen a couple of times, once about twenty years ago and I had to be dragged off the twatty bloke and then again about three years ago and I just gave the twatty woman a mouthful (and my other dog stepped in and bit her dog). Both times their off lead dog made an unprovoked attack on my on lead dog.
Hope your dog is ok and at least you know where to send the vets bill if needed.

  18. Iggy update. I may have omitted to mention his periodic bouts of diarrhoea and passing blood ever since August when someone gave him water from a bowl that was coated with green slime…

Anyhoo - tests have revealed a Giardia infection, so after a few days of Panacur and a disinfection regime that has left my house as clean as an operating theatre (all to be repeated in 3 weeks), fingers crossed we won’t have a repeat of the digestive disasters and raging thirst of the past month or two.

  19. I got knocked off my ebike a few months ago when a Westie went for Iggy and he ran under the wheels while trying to get away. Anyway, the subsequent discussion with the utterly uninterested and unrepentant owner led to me offering to drop kick the said dog into a neighbouring field if they didn’t get the horrible thing under control. We still see one another around the local dog walking haunts every now and again but I’m still waiting for Jim to fill me in, which is what was threatened at the time (Jim, it turned out when he turned up to the scene of the argument, was probably quite a handful in his day, but he’s now in his mid 70s and looks as if he’s in the early stages of congestive heart failure).

  20. Never mess with Jim :joy:.
I walked into a pub near me a few weeks after the last incident and while I was waiting at the bar I thought that dog looks familiar, it was the pub dog and it was the landlady I’d given a gob full , I made a stealthy exit :joy:
