  3. Had a walk up on the hills for sunset and then came home and was forced to admit defeat and put the heating on for the first time. I couldn’t take the earache any longer :joy:

  5. Worth it for Assetto corsa mods, so many cars and custom tracks

  6. Same at mine, although fortunately the frost hadn’t got into the top surface.

After that went down to the car dealership to try and sort out the infotainment system on mine and for Mrs GG to order her new car.

  11. Slightly less chilly this morning for the joy of the winter foursomes knockout. 5 up after 5, and 6 up after 11, a win was finally secured on the 17th... :worried: Very nearly lived up to my forum name

It’s not been a bad week.

Tuesday flew back from Spain to Stansted, train to Peterborough.

Wednesday Bazzer of this forum picked me up and we went to Motorcycle Live at the NEC picking up Divboy on the way.

Really enjoyable day out, a whole day of nothing but motorbikes, great.

Thursday, train to Stansted, flew back to Malaga with the most fantastic views out of the window. All went like clockwork and as we flew out even England looked really good in the afternoon sunshine. Planes and trains all for a round trip cost of 70 Quid! Excluding the NEC costs of course.

Friday, played Padel in the sunshine. (Like tennis crossed with squash on a glass court). Played shite at first but got into it and played well later on when the rust came off me. Took the Monster out and filled it with gas, which was a 30 mile round trip by the time I’d finished with it.

Saturday played tennis in the sunshine, then watched the Sprint race.

Sunday watched the moto 3, 2 and the MotoGP finale.

Monday went for a ride with Jorg the Laughing German, sunshine but cold at high altitudes, when I say altitude I’m talking about 1100m and yes I checked it. ( 3,600 feet).

I did have my summer shorty gloves on though, which of course was a mistake but when we set off we weren’t going to go high.

Not happy with the way the Monster is handling.

Tyre’s are the right pressure but it felt like I was skating on ice the whole time until we reached the the race track like section down on the coast, then and only then, the Monster came into its own, on the fast sweepers.

It needs the suspension settings adjusting and a steering damper fitting. Far too skittish at the steering head, the whole bike felt twitchy, nervous and ‘slidy’. Not planted at all.

However this week is the first time since contracting the terrible cold, cough, catarrh bug that I’ve even felt like riding a motorbike. In fact it’s the first time I’ve ridden since early September.

If you get this bug that’s been going around, the best thing I’ve found to get rid of it is exercise and lots of air in your lungs.

I haven’t even felt like taking the cover off my motorbike. I mean, how does that happen?

    I must get one of those posters that says;

    Imagine life without motorcyling.
Now give yourself a slap …
    and never do it again.

That’ll be my Christmas present sorted.

  16. Just been in commiserating with the neighbours and seeing if there is anything we can do to help. Let the dog out in the garden early this morning to do its business, went out the front to put it in the bin and found he had no car; house burgled, car & bike keys gone from the Faraday box & car stolen. Gong to cost him £1200 to get all the bike keys changed on top of everything else. Hanging is too good for these bastards.

  17. Had a go at setting up the suspension on the Monster today. If all else fails read the instructions, so I did.

In the manual it gives suspension settings for standard, sport and comfort. I figured sport would most likely be rock hard so I set everything to mid way between Sport and standard, both front and back.

The only thing I couldn’t change was the rear preload as I don’t have the C spanner’s with me. Nonetheless it totally transformed the handling. The bike just drifts round the bends now as opposed to feeling nervous and needing constant correction. I get the feeling it can be further improved but it’s a vast step forward, it didn’t actually take long either.

Steering head felt much steadier and wafting from left to right to left was a pleasure. I could feel the difference immediately but after about 10-15 minutes I decided to return to base as I was getting used to it and losing objectivity.

All told, happy with my experiment, vast improvement.

This morning, a strange hooded figure helped me scrape my car windscreen with his sickle...

It's only now, I realise I'd been de-icing with Death...
