For such a handsome bike the OEM tail of the V4, to me was a real eyesore. I'm sure there's reasoning behind the design and configuration of the tail but it escapes me why they put the numberplate light out to the side. After receiving the bike the first modification for me was to deal with this design anomaly or 'carbuncle' in my eyes. The replacement with the well designed and engineered Evotech Performance tail tidy has been one of the best modifications done.
When you have a sleepless night, the information you need about why the number plate location is where it is, is here, https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1986/1078/made. Bottom line, the rear tyre cannot be the rearmost thing on the bike. The location of the LED appears to be generic, it's the same on our 937 Monster. Andy
The top box rack is an accessory, not the standard bike as declared for the construction and use act. Andy
I've already fitted the EP tail tidy and it looks way better. In my ignorance, will this be an issue come MOT time?
I've got one on my PP, improves it loads. Won't be any issue with an MOT, the one on my 1229 was a long way in front of the rear tyre and was never questioned, as long as it's got a reflector stuck somewhere it will be fine.
