Ok Fight Fans - Best Ever Boxing Punch?

  1. I get they have to sell tickets etc. just seems the type of behaviour best left to the likes of Tommy Fury these days.

Hopefully someone will have a word in his ear, as you said he looks a great prospect and the owner of a very powerful looking left hook.

  2. "The king of sting, the master of disaster" etc..

  3. He’s in the same weight division as Tommy Fury but based on the fairly ineffectual performances against Jake Paul and KSI, I can’t see Fury being all that keen to fight him.

  4. All part of the circus show.... copyright Zhed's reply to my "old bastard 'jumpers for goalposts' diatribe." on the $50 million for the Fury v Ngannou match.

  5. I think that brawl was caused by bad blood from a game the previous season where "The Butcher of Bilbao" broke Maradona's ankle in what was purported to be a 'tackle'. He was one of those old school centre halves who managed to end a few players careers - just a thug in shorts.

  7. Judging by the number of solid king fu kicks he landed, his ankle seemed to have made a decent recovery :D

  8. I don’t watch much UFC but I’ll tune in tonight. I’ll be routing for Paddy the baddy and Leon Edwards. Some pretty awful pre fight exchanges. Which is why I hope Edwards flattens Covington…

  11. It'd be like trying to land a punch on a bluebottle... they may be small but they'd be so fast on their feet and to the punch.

A couple of dances and a sharp left to the liver would be the end of it... :D

  12. Little ‘uns can still hit hard, as most of a punch’s force comes from technique rather than brute strength. My son is a lightweight and so walks around at about 9.5 stone, but he has fearsome power. In the summer before he broke his wrist, we were at a bar which had one of those machines fitted with a punchball that displays a reading between 0 - 999. There was a bit of an informal competition going on, so he joined in and came second with a score of just over 900. The guy who just edged him with 920 was also a boxer (albeit former) and looked like a middleweight who’d let himself go. There were a few big lads, well over 6ft and c.18st, but their scores weren’t all that impressive (mid 600s and into the low 700s) as they just didn’t have the crispness and snap of the trained fighters.

  13. Volley him in his tiny little balls, job done :)

  14. Exactly... it's all about technique and even though it'd be only 8 stone or so behind that snap to the liver it'd still be more than enough to lay you out.

And their speed is just unbelievable.

  15. What was wrong with Wilder? He just didn’t seem like he was really “there”.

It was good to see AJ back to his old self. Even on his way to the ring he looked a lot more confident and relaxed. A really good performance and, thankfully, no silly speeches or theatrics afterwards.

  16. Missed it all unfortunately. Seems Wilder was overconfident and didn’t manage to land his ace. AJ seemed to have the style to easily deal with Walin. I’d have been staggered if he’d lost that one. Pleased to see Dubois come through a tough scrap. No mean feat, his opponent is a tough cookie. And if the boxing gods had been on his side, he’d have dispatched Usyk back in August. I should be home for Fury v Usyk. Now that should be interesting. I guess it hinges on which Tyson Fury turns up….

  17. I thought Parker and dubois fought really good fights, aj looked loads better and lyndon Arthur looked like he would rather be anywhere else but in that ring. In his defence, he took the fight at short notice
