Just my mate Peter ! We had a nose around a ( I think ) ww2 ship that was all broken up, only visible at low tide , loads of cement blocks there which we think was ballast ?? I’ve just noticed, if you zoom up the picture, it’s the broken up object on the beach at about 3 o’clock. We walked out along the beach and then climbed up to the top of the cliffs for the return leg.
This particular area we know like the back of our hands really, had just plotted the route to check the overall mileage so we didn’t run into problems with the tide coming back in on us ( low tide was 11:30 ) When I do need to navigate a route I’m not familiar with, I just use my Garmin edge 1000, it’s a cycling gps , but it works well enough when I’m walking, it’s just throws the time to destination estimates out because it’s working on average cycling mph, instead of walking mph. My mate Peter uses a proper walking Garmin gps unit, I can’t remember what model but it has the little stubby chunky arial on the corner of it, was about 600 notes if I remember correctly ? HTH.
@ducv2 your bang on there mate, I’ve just googled the SS Rohilla and it’s spit out this picture, that’s definitely what I was looking at today… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Rohilla
Today hasn’t been brilliant. It was our Christmas party with the neighbours last night, I ate and drank far too much, and for the first time in decades I spewed up twice this morning. I haven’t eaten spaghetti for weeks, but there was still some in there somehow! I just about managed half an hour on the exercise bike in the gym, then a burst in the sauna & hot tub, before jumping on a train to Bath to meet up with friends for a late lunch. I forced down half a pizza, still feel pretty rotten tbh, so we’re back on the train home. The party lifestyle has finally caught up with me!
Golf for a change. First win in 5 competitions, so rather pleased with myself. Might have a chippy tea.
Took Son climbing, then fitted front calliper to his MX5. Ordered a rear calliper as the rear also needs replacing after inspecting the others.
Nice one thanks for the reply. I have/ use a satmap active 10 device, or i can use my garmin edge 530 - similar vein as you. Always interesting to learn what others use for proper walking. Im building up to starting the munros sometime soon...
