The Cyclists/ebikers

  1. I’ve been out yesterday and today, but only 34 miles in total, yesterday was too wet and today I left too late. Might ride into the office tomorrow for a few more, but the weather isn’t looking ideal.

  2. Early return to work, no rest for you:worried:

  3. It’s my business so I often go in and do a few odd jobs.

  4. No working over Christmas for me this year, I have in the past but don’t like to much as this is my only opportunity usually to have a break.

  5. I know what you mean about the rain, i too am not a fan but Xmas eve i went out for a couple of mtb hours. Honking it down and very muddy but i had cabin fever, to be honest, i enjoyed it, waterproofs on and get in it was my thinking.

  6. It’s completely voluntary on my part, I too went many years where Christmas was the only real break. I won’t be doing emails or any interaction, just tidying up a few odds and sods.

  7. Notwithstanding the weather being rubbish round here at the minute and busy too, I'll likely not get a last peddle of the year tomorrow. So my year's strava stats are done. Below is my year. I'm happy with the stats to be honest, that'll do for me.....

  11. What I’m particularly pleased with is the fact I’ve more than doubled several of my stats since 2020, which is the first year I really started to up my cycling game. Next years targets include a 100 miler, possibly ride to Lymington catch a ferry then ride around the IoW. Way of the Roses over three days and I’m going to aim for 6,000 kms.

  12. They’re not but they are quality.

My understanding is Hope control the prices shops charge on the products they supply so you don’t often see them heavily discounted. I’ve only been able to buy discontinued products at below RRP.

I’ve 2 sets of Hope breaks that are over 20 years old and still function as they should, the can’t can’t be said for the SRAM and Clarke I’ve tried. It may be true with non Hope brakes that buy cheap buy twice is true.

  14. My stats are considerably lower this year over 2022.
    ~1800miles total for this year.
Poor weather and poor biomechanics :(. Hopefully back on form for 2024.

  15. Left it to the wire this year.. Just beat 2022 by 2 miles and slight improvement on average to 16.45mph.
Shit December weather (fakkin wind) and a bout of the dreaded lurgy in November were threatening to spoil things.

  16. I’ve started with a fairly easy ride, except it was hosing it down with failing light.

  17. I got out today, in a rare bright spell this afternoon. 26 miles on the back lanes. Good to put the first one in of the year.... And didn't get rained on

  18. Stripped off rear cassette on Sons MTB as it’s ghost shifting and moving across freehub body, turns out cassette spacers are broken.

Trip to Halfords with wheel in hand, a frustrating interaction with youth behind counter in shack. I needed a set off cone spanner’s as I wanted to service the freehub pawls whilst cassette is off.

ask if he has cone spanner’s in stock to fit to which he replies ‘he doesn’t believe so’,

ask him if he has some in his workshop, tells me yes but he ‘can’t sell them to me’ ffs:mad:

tell him I just need to check for size not to purchase, walk out of Halfords with a pair of cone spanner’s that were hanging on the racks.:mad::mad:

Now ordered a new 12 speed 11-50 rear cassette of eBay £75, should be here Thursday.:)

I hope to actually ride a bike tomorrow dusted off my old Kona Explosif 26er.
