Thought so, my Son (17) has trouble insuring a 125…..

 

I was lucky and could put it on my garage insurance in the end. Other wise it would have been in the house or sold.

 

My meerkat account is littered with quotes for bikes and cars, many of which if thought would be ok for price but weren’t. The R was one of those that wasn’t. IIRC it was over £500, may have been £800, but for comparison my 1299 is £160….

 

Tbf my 911 is only £250 this year and I quoted on a Bentley and that was £900! Same value, newer car by 15yrs

 

Despite being a geriatric with max NCD, I only attracted *one* insurance quotation (IAM Cornmarket)

 

That's interesting, I've never found them very competitive for bikes - despite being an IAM member - they've been good for cars though. Did you try BeMoTo? I've always found them good for bikes (not an "R" admittedly, but for an 851 SP3 and an 1198S).

 

I think my R was only £220 fully comp. I had several companies quote via Meerkat and or MCN.

 

You’ll have qualified for the OAP concession though.
