I believe I read somewhere might have been on his website? that @nelly worked for Raleigh before he switched over to motorcycles. I had a Raleigh banana which my father gave away, still galls me after 30 years, really liked that bike down tube friction shifters Reynolds 531 tubing bought for £50.
on second attempt managed to get my car battery swapped under guarantee 2 days ago - that's the last one from them for me.
they are fine, the guarantees are clear-cut, but i always thought what good value the batteries were, and whether they could keep the service up for much longer - I just got my answer. A big Halfords fan generally and got to know a lot of "behind the scenes" stuff from a mate who worked there for some time.
67 very cold miles today. Stunning views over austwick, clapham, bentham and mewith. Alas, I didn't take any pics. Phone was buried in layer 3 pocket and i didn't do much stopping, you cannot dawdle on long rides at this time of year, you soon run out of light.
Cleaned my rear cassette in an ultrasonic bath fitted now to a wheelset ready for short 20 miles tomorrow.
