Yeah I’ve got a brand new NOS light to go in the right hand side. Which should seal around the wing better, as yeah the seals are very expensive.
Various times I've had to make new seals for things... When heat isn't an issue, the best way I've found is to get vaseline and smear it onto the recessed area where the seal sits. Then get a tube of clear silicone and run a bead all along on top of the silicone, and leave it to fully dry. Afterwards the silicone will lift out of the vaseline in the same way an OEM seal would. You can trim with a knife or use a dremel. If the chrome is an issue in your case on the light, I'd sand it, repair with epoxy and have someone wrap them silver. Perhaps this might work? At a £171 its probably worth a bash?
No the chrome is inside a sealed unit The seal sits around the edge of the sealed unit In the your tube videos I have seen it comes in a roll
Seller says he's fixed the brakes & I think some corrosion on the subframes is expected? Plus the steering pumps has just been done. Traction control light on might be a hassle but there's another one included... £1300 & 83K miles with six months to fix the bits before MOT. Plus leather! Not bad imo
the more reasonable prices i see for new parts, the keener I get. never bought a car with more than 100 K on it though.
Coolant tank empty is/would be my biggest concern, everything else wouldn’t put me off as long as they haven’t been advisories previously. Full leather puts me off a little unless the seats are heated much prefer half leather.
Not trying to talk eggs here Chris. They’re known for the front suspension turrets to deform if they’ve been run with run flats. Check the boot space water can ingress into the wheel well and corrode the boot area. The coolant reservoirs are a weak spot too they break although mine didn’t whilst in my possession. If you go for a test ride make sure he takes it up through the rev range and doesn’t short shift so you can hear the charger at full chat. When I took the purchaser out in mine I gave it maximum berries down the little lanes I took him along, I think he enjoyed the thrill as he was pretty silent once I’d got to the open road sections. If it does have run flats ditch em as they’re way too harsh especially on a Cooper. Kept them on mine as the Mrs would occasionally use it and didn’t want the 9pm phone for a flat tyre on a rainy night.

Yes ditch run flats When you test drive makes sure fans aren't still running otherwise there will be a problem somewhere with coolant issues fans sensors etc
I had 6 minis to test drive over a day One I drove and the wheels rubbed the arches One over ran on the fans for ages and the seller said that was normal One had upgraded and mods in engine that wobbled about and didn't look secure One still had finance when we got done to the nitty gritty One had a leaking windscreen The last one I bought as I wanted it as soon as I saw it on a picture and the reg was perfect Check the passenger footwell for leaks
My partners has done this from day one and she’s owned it for about 5 years with no issues with the engine temperature. I’m minded to do a quick search now……….
Me too! Leather seat heaters are great -too hot on full- so no winter cold arse issues. Plus these are old cars and its a choice of 20 years of stains and other peoples stuff on the seat, or a leather cleaned with saddle soap and conditioned with your Ducati jacket conditioner to perfectly spotless?
