Misano

  1. I’m thinking of going to WSB at Misano this June. I’ve never been there before so tell me what I need to know!
What tickets do I need and what shall I do while I’m there.
Should I bother with a trip to Bologna for a Ducati tour?
How about Tavullia for the Rossi experience?

  2. Sounds good, will you be riding down on your bike ?

I went to the MotoGP at Misano - a decent ride out to get there. Stayed on a campsite in San Marino.

Decent ride out to get there through some great scenery - the Alps and all that was great. Great pictures of the bike+scenery
From my seat the track was a bit far away - big gravel trap and fencing - not that good - would get something a bit closer to the track or main grandstand if I were to go again.
I seem to remember being zoned, so you cannot walk round the whole track - you have to stay in your own ticket zone with its own parking and refreshment stalls. I am not a fan of that really.

Went to Tivullia - very busy on race weekend - but great to be there - lots of bikes and people - enjoyed that

    A few pictures..

My seat on race day - good crowd - flares went off eventually ...

Finding shade under the grandstand - hot !!

    Scenery on the way back.

  3. Unfortunately we will probably fly down and hire a car, I don't have a bike I'm capable of riding that far on.

  4. Have you driven in Italy before ? We flew into Bologna for the MotoGP at Mugello and drove to the hotel in Florence. I parked the car in the hotel car park on arrival and left it there for the whole 4 days :joy: Andy

  5. The second time I went I flew to Bologna then caught a bus right outside the airport which took me to the Railway station.
Train to Rimini and taxi to the Hotel
Bought a bus pass cheap as chips.
Race day caught the bus to misano where there were free buses laid on to and from the circuit. If its anything like motogp don't drive you will spend most of the day in a traffic jam and the rest trying to park
Even when I went on the bike I used buses to and from the circuit.
I was in the Rossi stands just after the start I think they were called "Brutepale gold" or something similar excellent views. Had to walk around the outside of the circuit to get to the entrance for the stand all seats are numbered

  6. Understood it is quite a bit more time consuming, and likely more expensive to ride down, considering the ferry and extra hotel costs.

I have never been to World Superbike race - is it better than MotoGP - is it worth a visit then ?

  7. Yes :D Andy

  8. Might be worth a visit then...

  9. We’ll be marshalling the Donington round this year, having spectated last year. IME, more laid back atmosphere and better access to the pit area than MotoGP. Andy

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  10. Marshalling, get properly involved !

It would be interesting to see something different. Also opens more date and venue options as I always go to the races on my bike.

So thanks, I will definitely look into it.

  11. What a fantastic trip, WSB is more accessible and a bit more low key so enjoy! Take a hat!! Depends where you are staying and where you are flying into but loads to do. Ducati Museum and factory tour for certain, not been to Tivullia but it's very close. So is Imola ( Senna memorial), just to see it. If you have a car Mugello isn't far either. For WSB we rode down, I took my 748, overnight ferry to France then two days riding and stayed on the coast at Cattolica, left the bikes at the hotel and took a taxi to the track. The food is so much better than Brands or Donnington! If you're driving just enjoy but avoid the centre of Bologna that has fiendish bus lane cameras. And don't forget sun glasses!!
