it's only because of this unusual situation that it's worth trying, A tyre fitter that specialises in balancing car tyres should be able to do this without a problem. if you have a swot up on dynamic versus static you will see that virtually anything other than a skimpy bicycle tyre could benefit from dynamic balancing.
I don’t unfortunately. If you look around the web it shouldn’t be too hard to find. I’d stay away from the usual ‘contact us’ addresses. Also, it might be worth trying to find the details for Ducati US MD, I met the UK version (since departed) at a BSB round a few years ago. I was surprised how involved he got in individual bike issues. A good bloke.
Yeah I googled last night and only came up with "[email protected]" and asked if this is Ducati Italy....crickets so far, but I'll give it another few days to see if they reply
I’d try: [email protected] If it’s not right, you should get a bounce back. These guys tend to be pretty good. I had a slight issue with a Sonos product and couldn’t get the right answer, so dropped a line to the President of the company. A very polite, respectful and complimentary email and got a great response within 24 hours. Couldn’t fault him.
I’m guessing you’ve read this post? https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/its-a-bit-wobbly.98246/page-2#post-2133285
Yes, I did.. My complaint is similar, Had a wobble / wiggle at slow speeds 40-50 mph I had and a High speed a vibration above 85-90 mph. When they replaced the front tire the wobble / wiggle was cured ( I actually described it as a wiggle to them) anyway new front tire wiggle gone, but the high speed vibration is still there, I asked to check the rear but they refused to put anymore diagnostic time on my bike because according to them they ate the cost of parts and labor on the front tire. Why they stated that I'm not sure and why is that relevant to my complaint?
Just thought you might find it interesting and that changing the tyre cured the problem. Hopefully we’re. You get your wheel balanced (and tyre changed) it will solve your problems
Absolutely find it interesting- proves there's bad batches of new rubber out there. will be picking this up again in the spring with another dealer and even have them check the front again
GC- So.. heard back from Mr. Chinnock within 24, then the following day from the regional tech guy from Ducati- best conversation I had to date in re: Glad this is off my lap for now, he will be providing oversight moving forward until a solution is found, will be working with the second Dealer that I took it to, little inconvenient being 70 miles away, but they do have nice roads up there.. Thank you so much for suggesting this!! this took a load off my mind. The recent conversation I had with Ducati, should of been a local conversation with my dealers chief tech, not sure why that didn't happen and at this point I really don't give a shit... All I can say is this local Dealer that I've been buying bikes from just lost a repeat customer for the past 12 years. 8 hi end bikes in total and possibly another 8 before I fully retire from motorcycles + the additional gear, parts/ accessories, etc... Guess the cycle gear / Revzilla down the block will be getting my apparel business since they sell the same crap anyway and Belissimoto and or Motomillion for farkles
FWIW- was able to go back and get the bike checked, rear tire was out by appx. 1.5oz really not alot.... However at Hi speed disengage the motor and it's smooth as silk Unfortunately seems my original complaint is not from an out of balance tire so for now both the front and rear wheel / tire assembly is ruled out. ball is back in the Ducati NA court and waiting for a reply, I basically asked to get me on another PPV4 to compare if they act the same, if so, then I have nothing further to complain about... Just disappointing that they market this as the best / smoothest MTS ever, I certainly don't agree as both my 13 MTS-PP and 14 Diavel did not show these symptoms, those were actually a rip at Hi speed. I also did a back to back with a non PP version back then and it was a noticeable difference
