Has anyone out there with a 959 and the official DP "Race" upmap loaded (that comes on a dongle with the Akrapovich underbellies) ever been brave enough to try and reset their service/desmo reminder lights with melcodiag? If so, what happenned? Did it remove the "Race" map or did it work OK?
I'm wanting to know the same think, I've got a 2012 1199S. I'm using the "full-race"UpMap with full race Termis and I need to reset the oil change reminder. I think there's a way to first remove the Upmap, back to the device/fob--I've inquired to UpMap directly to Italy but have not gotten a clear response. I guess my next question is, will UpMap provide the map again to my account if lost, because I purchased it and it's on my account-- Greg
Having done a fair amount of delving into this I think your case, with an 1199, is pretty straightforward. You will definitely lose your upmap if you mess with it in melco on an 1199 (some people have lost it by just plugging In by all accounts without even trying a reset) so be careful because you are stuffed once you have done this as your dongle and the bike memory will desynchronize. On the plus side I understand that you can "downmap" it back to standard yourself just by plugging in the dongle and using the menu on the bike's dash then you can fiddle with melco safely then put race map back on afterwards. I've never had an 1199 but there is a fair bit of chat about this on jpdiag and other forums, and that is all I'm going from so take my advice with a pinch of salt. Unfortunately for me I can find no solid advice on all this for a 959 anywhere, so I don't know if the problem of map loss is only on the 1199 or mine too. From what I can determine I need to have the dongle and access to a dealers diagnostic machine to "downmap" mine, so would have to pay them, so may as well just pay them to reset the light! Also I'm double buggered because I never got given the dongle with the bike so I don't think even a dealer can downmarket mine.
