Exhausts

  1. Hi Finn, thanks....that was exactly what I was after.

My set up is exactly the same as yours was...Mivv decat, BR MkII baffle, and Termi stubby. Very loud, but kind of ok. I also have the Fatducs fitted, which help with low down fuelling, and a free flowing air filter. That helps too. ;-)

Nice bike by the way, where did you get your belly pan painted? Is it powder coated? I've been thinking about that, but need to find a place in/around London.

I think the LV setup looks good, especially the way the carbon cover fits over the muffler/link pipe. It's a better fit than the Termi, but to be fair, that was designed to fit with the Cat in situ....

So, the choice is clear....QD is lovely, but is very expensive...roughly £500 more than the LV setup, and actually similar in operation (both are mufflers and link pipes, as opposed to 'full systems' like the Full Termi system). Possibly it can be tuned for more power, but the Multi isn't exactly lacking, and if I wanted more power then I'd get a sports bike...feel and response is much more important, especially in the 'real' world. To me anyway.

Anyway, plenty to ponder....the LV setup is around £900, minus what I might get for the Termi stubby, Mivv link pipe, and BR Baffle, except for the fact that NOBODY on here will want it! No now we all know the LV setup is better... ;-)

  2. Oh, if anyone is interested in the Termi Stubby - Mivv Decat - BR Baffle set up, PM me...

    Thanks,
    David

  3. as i did, you should still get a good price for the termi can - it's a quality piece of kit
My Mivv link pipe and baffle are going in the bin :frown: as i did mess about with them..

Belly pan was painted by a mate in the trade, though i have seen some powder coated ones that looked good..

    Cheers
    Finn

  4. You're right.... the Termi Stubby is a quality piece of kit... it still retails around the £600 mark!!! I reckon around £400 is fair... The baffle and Mivv link pipe? Well, they do work, let's not forget that, but it also depends on what you are after and your budget. The Mivv link pipe is still needed for anyone after a Mivv muffler, and they still retail at around £300. The baffle? Well, yes, ok, that's only useful for someone who doesn't buy an LV link pipe and needs something for a Termi stubby or standard can to go with their Mivv link pipe! ....sorry, excuse the ramblings!

On the belly pan, yes, painted/powder coated....looks good.

  5. Finn, can you post a full bike shot for a better impression of how the LV setup looks on the Mutley please ;-)

  7. The heat shield is a bit of a brute! The rest of it is very nice though. How does it sound?

  8. That's very nice Finn.......where is the best place to buy the LV link pipe & end can......did the carbon hanger come with the can ? I've done a Google search but don't get up much info on dealers.........

  9. iforb,
Heat shield is a tad large, nice sound though, i prefer with baffle in..
I will try to post a sound clip when i can..

    Rod,
Not sure about best place to buy, i got from MotoGb through Brain at BR - comes with carbon hanger

  10. Brian at BR Special Tuning gives you a bit off the price if you buy the link pipe and the muffler at the same time... £893.50 for both, as opposed to £904.19 separately.

  11. With the QD end cans & link pipe, are the baffles only in the end cans, or is there also a baffle in the link pipe...... ?
I take it the 158hp was with the baffles removed, i.e. a straight through system (if the link pipes aren't baffled).....

  12. Hi Finn - I guess I may be being a bit dense here. Is that the LV end can?

  13. One clue, take a look at the sticker..........

  14. The baffles are in the end cans - no baffle in the link pipe. You'd have to ask Boomer but I'm positive the 159 bhp that was achieved would have been with the baffles in place, he doesn't ride with the baffles out so what would be the point....

  15. Roger that it was the sdk letters that threw me a bit left...... Honest Guv

  16. Or even bk - eye sight clearly isn't what it used to be.

  17. Ok. So I've just ordered the decat pipe and it should be with me tomorrow Just need to confirm with Ducati Glasgow how much it's gonna cost me to fit it.

Ducati said they had heard bad things about decat pipes in general around the fit. BR have assured me the concerns are unfounded and that the pipe was designed to fit on the standard pipes. Fingers crossed. I'll keep you posted.

  18. Spoken to Duc Glasgow and they reckon a couple of hours for fitting assuming all goes well.

They said they've had a few decat pipes on different bikes that have been a complete nightmare. One bloke bought his bike over from the IOM for the job and nothing fitted. Apparently the replacement pipe was even worse.

Slightly nervous I have to confess. Fitting day is the 2nd June.

  19. Just as bob says, no baffle in link pipe, only in end cans, but remember there are two..? So twice the silencing...?

    159BHP with baffles in!!
