I Was Just Thinking,.....

  1. Hello everyone, it has been a while I know and hoping to get the M750 back on the road this year as soon as I can, I've held onto it because, well,....because I love it,....but I've never been a fan of the 3 spoke alloys! I've been looking online and I guess to get spoked wheels its gonna cost about £2800 from HPS, would anybody be able to say if yup that sounds about right or maybe there's other outlets that I haven't found yet? I did have a question however, the S4 wheels will be nothing like the S4R wheels I take it, many thanks anyway.

  2. Pay around the same for some different wheels as the bike is worth? For me, you would have to hate the 3 spokes with a psychotic rage that would cause you to do something unforgivable to make those sums make sense - :) - my thought, if it is a single front disc, add a second with caliper and m/cyl and ignore what you can still see. If money isn’t a problem, sell the M750 and buy something like a GT or SC1000 instead.

  3. what you say is absolutely bang on,...I'll think on cheers Jon

  7. Be careful what you wish for....
Wire wheels are a bugger to clean, require regular maintenance and are heavier than most cast wheels, extra unsprung rolling mass is bad news.

  8. If they are to you taste, I expect you can fit 5 spoke Marchesini wheels from an S4 /2001 like I did to my 2003 900ie? Though you should check with a top rated Ducati mechanic before you purchase! They were a straight swap onto my bike. Originally they came in black but a respray to gold made them just what I was looking for. There will be other wheels that fit too, and for far less than £2800, all available used from eBay etc, you just need to find some you like and make a few 'phone calls.

Owning, buying and customising motorcycles does not make any financial sense, never has and never will. Bikes bring pleasure from riding, meddling, fettling and generally doing what you want with them. Its not about the money; most people who say it is have bought £20K bikes -that are worth £16K the moment they ride off the dealership forecourt...

Have fun and post pics as you change your bike!
