Hello New here. Considering buying a new Multistrada V4 soon. Just can't decide which model. Reason I can't decide is that I can't tell the difference between the various versions. Is there a website that shows the differences? The Ducati website doesn't seem to. Any pointers would be appreciated.
Look at the link below Multistrada V4 Ducati Listed all the models, V4, V4S, V4S Sport, V4S Grand Tour, V4 Rally, V4 Pikes Peak and V4RS. Different models come with different packages, it seems the V4GT has all the bits! There isn't a comparison option on the web site, just built what you and each configuration can then be saved, most popular is probably the V4S travel and radar plus any extra bits you may want Models can be configured on line to suit your wallet
Thanks I was trying to figure out what packages each comes with. The differences between them. It's not shown on that page.
I was recently perusing the range to see if I fancy a swap from my current V4S & as above the GT has the most options in the “base” price included think it was like the old V4S Full with plastic panniers heated seats/grips, radar cruise & the addition of spot lights and fancy paint job, can’t remember if the GT has the Akra slip-on . The Rally has taller suspension, alloy larger tank, radar cruise, luggage is an extra as might be heated seats/grips. I could be wrong as that is from memory, but what I found was if you configure each variant the list of extras available to add shows what it doesn’t have as part of the base spec .
Here's a quick summary of the Multistrada V4 models: V4 - 19" front & 17" rear wheels. Manually adjustable suspension, 320mm dia front disks, 5" colour display, 22 litre fuel tank. Only available in red. No option to add front & rear radar. This is the base model. V4S - same engine as V4 (V4 Granturismo), Skyhook semi-active suspension, 330mm dia front disk with M50 Stylema calipers, 6.5" colour display, 22 litre tank. Colour options (Red, White, Grey). Choice of cast or spoked wheels. Option for front & rear radar. Factory fitted accessory options (e.g Travel & Radar= panniers, main stand, heated grips, heated seats, front & rear radar). V4 S Grand Tour (GT) - As the V4S Travel & Radar model with a special paint scheme and added accessories (e.g. TPMS, aux lights) V4 Pikes Peak (PP) - same engine as the V4/V4S/V4S GT, but with with 17" front and rear forged aluminium wheels, special paint scheme, Öhlins electronic suspension, same 22 litre tank as the V4/V4S/V4S GT. Comes with front & rear radar. This is the road/track focused model. V4 Rally - similar engine to V4/V4S/V4 S GT/V4 PP but with rear cylinder deactivation at low revs/low throttle input. Larger tank, 30 litres. Only available with spoked wheels (19" f ront & 17" rear) This is the more off-road / global tourer focused model. V4 RS - This is similar to the V4 Pikes Peak but has the more powerful Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine (similar to the Panigale/ Streetfighter V4 models). Yet another special paint scheme. This is track/road focused model. Hope this helps. It really come down to what you plan to use the bike for and how much you want to spend
The V4S options have changed over the last couple of years, my understanding of the current variants are: Essential Radar - as essential but with Front & Rear Radar for adaptive cruise control and blind spot detection Travel & Radar - as Radar but with main stand, panniers, heated grips and heated seats (both rider & pillion) Full - as Travel and Radar but with carbon front mudguard and Akra slip-on All variants available with cast or spoked wheels in red, white or grey The V4 S GT is a V4S Travel & Radar with a special paint scheme and only cast wheels, plus the following accessories: TPMS (tyre pressure sensors) Aux lights Hands free fuel cap Sorry no Akra slip-on with the V4 S GT :-( But is does have black bars, swingarm, pillion foot rest hangers and sump guard.
Maybe you can tell us what you intend to use the bike for? Touring, sporting rides, off road? The S versions with travel pack and radar are probably the most popular choices for general use and touring.
No off road. Long touring. I do a few multi week tours on mainland Europe every year. Lots of mountain roads. But all paved and in good condition. I currently have a BMW K1300S - great bike but showing its age and since BMW decided not to continue the line I have to find something new. I'm 6'6" so finding a bike that's comfortable for long trips is tricky.
Sounds like either a V4S (or GT if you want those accessories and like the paint scheme) or a V4 Rally. The V4 Rally has slightly longer travel suspension (200mm front & rear) compared with the V4S/GT (170 / 180mm) and I believe slightly more ground clearance which makes for a taller ride height. The seat height of the V4 Rally is 870 or 890 mm (depending how fitted) or 885 / 905 mm with the high seat accessory, compared to the V4S/GT which is 840 / 860 mm as standard or 855 / 875 mm with the high seat accessory. So the V4 Rally is a taller bike, it's also heaver 227 / 260 kg (dry / kerb) whereas the V4S/GT is 215 / 240 kg - the extra kerb weight is explained by the 30 litre fuel tank on the V4 Rally compared with the 22 litre tank on the V4S/GT. Given your 6'6" tall, the extra height and weight of the V4 Rally shouldn't be a problem for you and may actually be more comfortable. The V4 Rally comes in three variants: Radar - includes main stand but no panniers Adventure Travel & Radar - comes with aluminium panniers (inc. mounting frame) and heated grips and seats Full Adventure - as Adventure Travel & Radar but with Akra slip-on and carbon front mudguard. You can fit the plastic panniers / top box on the V4 Rally and you can fit the aluminium panniers / top box on the V4S/GT models. You can also buy the larger Rally screen and larger footpegs as accessories for the V4S. There are aso third party bar risers available for the V4/V4S if needed. The engines are similar between the V4 Rally and V4S/GT, but the Rally having rear cylinder deactivation a low revs (less than 3,700 rpm I believe) and low throttle demand whereas the V4S/GT only deactivates the rear cylinders at tickover. The V4 Rally therefore can have better fuel consumption than the V4S/GT when ridden sedately which might not be a lot of the time Obviously with the bigger tank, the Rally will have a better range. Have a play with the Ducati configurator and watch how quickly you can make the total cost even more expensive by adding accessories Don't forget to allow even more money for some third party accessories, see this thread for ideas. You should be able to get a demo ride on a V4S relatively easily but maybe not so on the V4 Rally. Good luck with your choice.
There is a V4s Full on Ebay with 600 miles at £17990. which is close to £7000 off the list price. Its got all the toys on it that you would need.
