I tolk my wife the bike was an investment, i did not hear the reply...i can't actually hear anything in that ear now!
Your tax system is probably much fairer than the UKs. Ours is outdated, massively complex and and favours the very richest at the expense of everyone else.
JHP have 2 ex demo bikes with very few miles. One just over and one just under £20k. Think Ducati are also offering £1.5k off new ones currently which means a new one is probably imminent.
IIRC, the American IRS tax a US citizen's worldwide income, even when that citizen isn’t resident in the US. Andy
I laughed as in the real world where most of us exist without holding investments and stocks we like just paying a monthly ‘rental’ for new trinkets
We never own anything for long. In 100 years time, everything you own now will either belong to someone else or no longer exist. And we will all be forgotten.
I’ve been saying for a long time that PCP has allowed manufacturers to inflate the price of vehicles. I know we’re going back a ways now but I used to buy a new bike every 3yrs and I could trade in and ride out with a new one for £100mth on HP, often at 0%. As soon as PCP’s became a thing the new price crept up and the trade in value dwindled. The retail price has become irrelevant, it’s just about the PCP repayments but that now has got out of control. What you pay now in PCP not long ago would have actually bought you the vehicle, now it buys you less than half of it!
Thing is though without PCP either vehicles would not be as sophisticated as they are now or many of the manufacturers would no longer exist.
That being said, I wish pcp never existed. Bikes nowadays are far too sophisticated, for my taste anyway. For me, they could have stopped after lean angle abs, traction control and riding modes were sorted. Anything more is just extra unnecessary stuff to go wrong.
PCP can work if done right. Avoid any deal with a high interest rate (nearly all s/h vehicles) and make sure it has a decent GMFV. My cars have been PCP for years as it’s a work tool really. If I had my way I wouldn’t have a car at all, there is no joy to be had from driving in my opinion. Our roads are pretty lawless much of the time and there are just too many trucks and cars.
Ok. I'll admit stupidity or maybe just a lack of educatuon. Ihad to google the two, three & four letter abbreviations used in this thread. PCP meant Primary Care Physician to me ( colud be age related), but now know it meams Private Contract Purchase ( at least in the UK). I dont do Leases (aka PCP) buy things outright including my bikes. Everything I have is mine with no monthly payments .I even pay my insurance on an annual basis ( no monthly pmts). I must be some sort of finacisl dinosaur ......
That’s why I’m still on my original ‘10 1200S. Sure, I can get better low speed fuelling from a 1260 or a V4, but they’re not appreciably faster and lack the Jekyll & Hyde character of the original. Sticking for the moment, although a 1260 PP could just turn my head…
