V4 And So It Begins

  1. I'm just in the process of fitting the "off road" Iconic sat nav brackets. I initially thought the metal plate would fit on top of, and in addition to, the 3D printed mount bits. It looks like the metal parts actually replace the plastic parts completely? You actually remove the plastic bits altogether?
Also - I've removed the bikes front screen and behind it there is a spot where a Ducati badge should be. But on mine its just a blank Ducati shape. Does anyone with a PP have an actually badge behind the front screen and has it been missed off on mine? TIA

  2. First things first, the flat metal plate replaces the Iconic plastic mount and the included 3D printed nylon spacer goes between the metal plate and the sat nav plate. The supplied bolts are a bit long so look a bit agricultural but I went with them as is. I’ll have a look at my Pikes Peak when I put the car away and let you know. Andy

  3. Thats what I figured, Thanks for the fast reply Andy.

  4. Got off my arse and checked the front end and there is a nice grey coloured shield shape in a sea of black plastic but no Ducati emblem :( Andy

  5. At least its not just me! - thanks for checking

  6. I'd only had the plastic mounts in for a couple of rides and they were already showing signs of the plastic bending badly. (Zumo XT2)
Installed the metal mounts today(after spraying them black!) and expect these will do the job much better. (With black bolts so I wouldn't get triggered).
Iconic should supply the metal mounting plates as standard if you ask me.

  7. I'm just in the process of spraying my new brackets black too. I'll now need to do the bolts as your comment has just triggered me :joy:

  8. It's got to be done !

  9. First service completed this morning. Nothing much to report, there’s a lot of oil to drain  and there were 2 updates, display screen and something called quick shifter strategy. The journey home was ridden enthusiastically in Sport for the first time which was astonishing. I’ve ridden 2 ridiculously quick sports bikes, masquerading as road bikes (1098R and Panigale V4S) in recent years and whilst the V4 Pikes Peak lacks that ultimate punch, shit it’s quick :p :D :joy: Going to have to choose my moments to use Sport in the future. 10. Agreed Andy. I can only imagine (and am trying not to!) what the RS is like!

  11. Looking at the figures, I’m not sure road performance is going to be markedly different. The V4 Pikes Peak shaves the RS on torque 92 lbs ft vs 87 lbs ft and RS shaves the Pikes Peak on peak power, 180bhp @ 12,250rpm vs 170bhp @ 10,500rpm. How many times have you revved your Pikes Peak over 10,500 rpm ? It’s not about straight line speed though, is it ? For me, it’s the punch out of the bends and the Pikes Peak has the edge on that :D Andy

  12. I thought the PP hit the limiter at 10500?

  13. Max revs are 11,500rpm. Andy

  14. @Sicilian, these, https://www.ducati.com/gb/en/accessories/ACC012399, mine are in silver, 96782222AB. A point to note, the Pikes Peak centre stand was different to the other Multistradas in the V4 range. Not sure if Ducati just offer the one now but if you want that option, worth confirming with your dealer. Andy

  15. Thx Andy, do you the Evotech engine / cylinder head guard fitted too? Looks like Ducati have changed the crash bar design.

  16. Yes, I do :upyeah: Andy

  17. I ended up cancelling the PP this morning. I was going to sell both my Multi V4S and Pani V4S and buy a PP, but after riding the Multi V4S again yesterday with the new Roadtec 01SE's again yesterday and taking the Pani for a quick blast this morning I've decided to keep what I got .

  18. It has to be right for you and if it isn’t right, the correct decision is to walk away. Andy
