    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  2. I have contacted Marvin Jensen on the Ducati.ms site on this (he is one of the admins)

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  3. Yep... looks like the site provider has changed some authentication rules, probably while doing maintenance/upgrades. Nothing to do with payment - it is a restriction on the server filesystem that they need to address.

  4. I got hold of Marvin and he has tagged Jimmy again. This time he has also offered to forward my details to Jimmy so we can hopefully have a chat about preserving the forum now and into the future. No response yet from Jimmy, who apparently is now in Australia.

  5. Working ok for me.

  6. I don't think that it is OK.
You can navigate the site but since you cannot login, you cannot post or see pictures.
Most likely to change from the supplier to manage login config that has not been implemented in the site itself.

  7. You are right, I was just browsing the forum content and assumed I was logged in but I wasn’t.

  8. It is such a valuable resource for 888 owners, it would be a shame indeed if this information got lost

  9. It is good to see old familiar forum members names, agree with all with regard to resurrection of our old familiar 851 888 forum. Best of luck and thanks to everyone trying to boring it back, many thanks

  10. That's what I found - the site is still there, but I can't login.

  11. I am able to login, but I seem to be the only one

  12. Can login & browse but not post...

  13. Yeah,it is not anymore what it is use to be.
It is a shame, there was A LOT of info for the 851/888 on it.

  14. Hi there,

I was looking into the 851/888 forum (.net now) and found out I could not register, donate, or simply browse through pages that are not front one (i.e I cannot access page 2 and after of a given section, or access FAQ topics other than the first one etc.)

Is this forum survival still being discussed/at stake?

Thanks in advance for any updates from those who are trying to keep it alive. :upyeah::)

  15. I few years ago (2021, I think) after previous outages, I was chatting with Marvin and offered to take on the forum with the intent of updating it and ensuring that it remained relevant and available. At the time it was reported that Jimmy did not want to relinquish control, despite apparently not being particularly engaged with the forum. At that point it was clear to me that the forum would likely fall into disrepair unless an agreeable solution was found.

  16. This is very sad, part of me thinks shame on you Jimmy.
I don’t know the ins and out of the politics or ownership but if it was once established with a passion in mind, who, when & why did it get relinquished ?

  17. Well - I try not to speculate on any politics in play - I understand that Jimmy formed the forum, and paid for it out of his own pocket for many years, and he has our respect for doing so.

There remains a community that are keen to maintain the history and information in those discussions, and I'd hope there could be a conversation about making the data available to the community to re-establish the forum - but ultimately, if Jimmy is not in a position to do that then that's his decision.

  18. Thanks much for this information.

It is surprising, indeed, that someone would not handover (sell ?) ownership/control over such a mass of valuable information, especially knowing so many of you are able and willing to help running it.

  19. Not suggesting doing anything illegal, but is not possible to scrape the forum for the information it holds and into a new Database ? Is that even possible ?
