You could argue it’s going to favour the high tyre wear riders. It’s going to prove a challenge for the teams because it’s not something they practice in the heat of competition and yet another reason to bitch about the Ducatis’ unfair advantage What is the likelihood of a fixed, minimum time before the rider can leave the pit after a tyre change ? How complicated are the logistics that the tyres for the race weekend arrived in Australia in November last year ? Andy
While its understandable, not a fan of races being won or lost in the pit lane though so yeah the mandated time slot a good idea for sure
If I had to guess, I’d probably put my shilling on import bureaucracy. Australia has some of the most restrictive biosecurity regulations in the world and of course, no-one is going to try and use race team logistics vehicles to smuggle contraband, are they ? Andy
This is such a shame. mandatory pit stops really spoil the racing. We've been looking forward to racing again all through the winter, and now this. Pissed right off I am, but I'll still be watching every second of it.
Petrucci and Ianone were both at PI the last time there was a f2f (when 93 got black flagged for pitting too early). Is it an omen i wonder?
It wouldnt have mattered if Pirelli hadnt bought the tyres to Oz last November and manufactured a new tyre for the new surface instead. What a mistake to make!

I like the way he says he cant say too much after spending 10 minutes slagging off the R1 lol Jonathan Rea: ‘’I’ve been told I can’t say much, but I’d love to say the full story’ | World Superbikes | Crash
Interesting breakdown of the fastest sectors, Bulega is the only rider to feature in all sectors. I think we anticipated Bulega, had high hopes of SLowes and I guess Iannone could have been anticipated. Not surprised about Bautista and I see Rae remains as petulant as ever Rear tyre wear looked challenging. Looking forward to Superpole. Andy
Tarran only .6 off the factory Honda has to be the highlight of his day id imagine (youd expect him to beat Noruddin) and quite a big jump in times between Rea in 16th and Ray in 17th. Only a second between 1st and 16th though so could be all change tmrw/tonight.
Absolutely. Rae has to find a setting pretty quickly although I’m not sure why Locatelli has half a second on him, on what should be an identically equipped bike IMO, with the (predictably) unpredictable weather and the tarmac, I’m not going to read too much into what happens over the 3 races to predict what the rest of the season is going to look like. I do have one concern though, when Toprac finds that third of a second (and he will), I hope he doesn’t get frustrated trying to get past the front runners. Experience says it can go shit shaped easily. Petrux and Rinaldi (and I ‘m sure Iannone) won’t give a millimetre It’s been a long winter so far, the next couple of days are eagerly anticipated in our households Andy
Yeh im currently debating whether to watch it live or got to the pub shortly, pass out on the couch at 9 and watch it on catch up tmrw morning.
Well that was a rather enjoyable mornings racing So impressed with bulega and ianone 3 beemers in the top 10 and all five manufacturers Six times world champion Jonathan Rea out of the points I like these new regs. Decent ssp race too Shane about TBA but a decent start to the season for mcflea More of the same tomorrow please.
2 hour delay due to an aprilia blowing up in Aussie sbk race lol Only got the superpole and ssp races recorded fffs
The delays happen quite often so worth recording the programme after the event is supposed to have finished, as well as any in between and just delete if everything on time. I only recorded a one hour programme but fortunately just managed to catch the end of the last wsb race, which is worth watching. Great to have the Maniac back, proper quality! Wonder how much factory support Go Eleven receive (or are about to…)
