  1. But the Jam are hardly Curtis Mayfield.

  3. You know what? I didn't get them up until about two weeks ago, then I really listened to them, over and over. And now I "get them".

Or maybe they've just worn me down

  4. Aargh! Synching music to old films! It's alt.music.pink-floyd all over again!!!!!one!!1!!!

  5. Very true. Ive also seen Martha Reeves, Edwin Starr, Desmond Decker, Mary Wells but Yes CM what a cool guy. I have several Impressions LP's and a number of his solo work.

Mind you Ive also seen King Kurt, The Meteors, Guanabats, Reckless etc. Hehe. Also during my scooterist days.

Bet you'd have loved to see The Jam though. :p

  6. Its okay ElToro. Theyre just a band that irritate me at the moment. Like Coldplay, Snow Patrol, etc. Unchallenging music for the masses or chick rock as I call it.

Music is subjective. Perish the thought we all liked the same stuff. It good to listen to any music and so just ignore me. I have strong opinions on music. Theyre not necessarily correct mind. I listen to a lot so have a false impression that my taste is better than anyone elses. It isnt. Its just different. However I also quite enjoy a wind up. I also love being contrary and it would be no surprise to know that my mates would enjoy nothing more than throttling me sometimes.

  7. I'll have you know - my music library is the finest of its size in the World.

  8. Not a problem BS. I like to wind up too, as you may have gathered

BTW I'm listen to Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel now :upyeah:

  9. I mainly regret never having seen The Clash or Joy Division.

I am currently listening to Ramada Inn by Neil Young. Constantly.

  10. Saw the Clash at Brixton Academy but can't remember much about it. A dozen or so of us went up from Southend middayish and spent the day drinking. We were pretty wobbly by the time we got in and the sloping floor gave us trouble. I recall we had a lot of space around us.

  11. Love Cockney Rebel. :)

I too would have loved to see JD or The Clash. I once owned everything JD ever did, including some live video recordings. I used to work for Pinnacle records a distributer and theyre stuff came home with me. Alas I was burgled 20odd years ago and ALL my vinyl stolen. This is still painful to me to this day. Amongst it was a complete set of Kent Soul LP's. 65 of them. All New Orders 12"'s, The Three Johns, Section 25, Chameleons, the list goes on oh and The Cramps. Plus all my original mod stuff from when I was a kid. Chords etc, old soul and northern soul 7"'s. I'm gutted as I type. Thieving c**ts

  12. my mp3 player at work is on random play, 900 or so songs - nu-metal, metal, punk, pop-punk, grunge, heavy rock, classic rock, some good old 80's & 90's tunes, some film soundtrack tunes, some funny tunes....and some of my friends bands tunes and my own bands tunes..and more(probably)

so every 2-3 minutes i could be listening to something completely different!!

  14. I wish I still had that AF. Matching number Italian GP 'J' reg. Proper AF Rayspeed S Type. Two germans bought it from Nuremberg in 1991/2 I think. (ish) Drove all the way over for it. Would be worth £7-9k now easy. I sold it for £950. Put money towards a GSX1100SD Katana. From one extreme to the other. (note the 250cc was binned and a stage 5 TS1 225 applied instead) see pic of lammy in thread below

We likely saw the same bands at the same places Kev. :) Love the Boating Blazer.

I dont hanker for the old days anymore. I still have an old Rally 200 in my garage gathering dust. Untouched for over 20yrs. Well its the wifes really, hence why ive never sold it. I like to move on. Never revisit old things as you are more often than not dissapointed. Besides when I was a kid i remember 40yr old Ted's still hanging around and I swore I'd never be like that. A 40 odd year old mod/scooterist. No not for me. I need to evolve into other areas. Besides the summer of love got me and the similarity between raves and all nighters seemed to suit me. Skins had invaded the scene and I am no friend of racist skins. The scene died for a bit. Plus you marry and change over time, I went to Uni, got a degree etc a mortgage...life happened.

Good luck to your mates. Used to love the IoW madness on the ferry. Some fucker would start up half way across, then everyone would and before you know it you are gagging on 2 stroke fumes. Then the door lowers and its fucking wacky races. What a laugh. Remember the year when 30k decended on IoW. Actually I think that was the bad manners year. That was insane.

I once got arrested in Rhyde for wearing nowt but a grass skirt on my Lammy. Got a night in the cells for that. Bastards.

  15. That photo was taken in my flat.

On the 10th floor of a 22 storey concrete tower block in SE London.

Used to take it up and down in the lift. Sometimes I would start her up in the flat to annoy the neighbours. Baffleless Mikech spannie was deafening. That pissed the noisy bastards off.

  16. Currently enjoying a bit of Bobby Bland for the drive home. 'Shoes...' where's me talc?

  17. yep crazy times, I had a ball, I bought an GSXR750 around about 1990, still did the scoot thing too for a good few years was hard to move on from it, good memories though, in hind site couldn't put up with scooter now even a tuned one, not after having sports bikes for the last 20 odd years ; )
