Just starting to get my stuff together for this season and checking out some dates on MSV for this year, starting to get excited about it after doing some work on the 959 over winter. Feels like a long long time since I got on a bike. Got an early one at Brands on 21sh March - thats just a bit of a test day and get my new tyres fitted to make sure everything works. Then April get going, Snetty on 15th, then 29th is OPL. Not looking much past that at moment, see how we get on at OPL with bike before committing to much more
I’m interested to see how the trackdays go this year, NoLimits were on their arse last year, yes busy days but loads and loads of emails about super low numbers
Doing 5 days in Spain shortly, hopefully another 5 at the end of the year. Basically given up on uk track days, fairly expensive, sometimes problems with noise levels, and the amounts of fuckwittery over the last couple of years has noticeably increased. Might do a couple on the rgv if the weather is settled.
all good points but need to balance out the risk of Spanish hospitals. My mate had an off at Jerez and it was horrific. Isolated case so I’ll try to remain open minded. Can’t argue the cost per day and weather guarantees are big plus points
Yeah have to admit, be looking at some euro's and possibly further next year. Laguna is on my bucket list for sure
the crash was a high side onto the back straight, but he went over the front and down the track not into the gravel. the hospital was the private one as it was closest and they literally left him in the hallway with a heamatoma (can’t spell it!) like a rugby ball in his leg while he screamed and screamed, they said ‘oh it keeps going You loose leg’ but wouldn’t even look at him before I paid upfront on a card machine for x rays etc, and they practically refused to speak English, until after the payment etc then spoke it fluent
I had an extended stay in almeria hospital last year, and it was nothing like that. Even had a sea view from my room
Yeah, your right. No complaints apart from the food, but that was because I'm a fussy eater and don't like a Mediterranean diet. The staff were helpful and ordered pizza to be delivered fir more. Even had a stroll on the seafront a couple of times for a sneaky beer
Not sure i will bother much with the uk this year, have Jerez booked late March and Portimao mid June, will likely do a 3rd late in the year
I might see you there Paul, will be doing Brands GP deffo on the 848, but not booked anything yet. Booked my local Lydden Hill for May to give the 848 a shake down.
Still a bit to do… had all the rear end out for inspection, clean and grease. TTX shock fitted, new 1098 ride height adjuster, TSS aluminium subframe, Renthal 520 conversion. Had all the front end off over the weekend, steering stem bearings very crusty, so new ones to go in. Removed the std internals ready for some Ohlins NIX 30’s to go in. Got some monoblocks to replace the std callipers. Then it’s just a few other little bits and paint the bodywork(if I have time for the latter!) Yours must be nearly there by now?
