Following on from an exchange in another thread (small bike things) what snow foam do you use and would you recommend it? Also do you use the snow foam as a pre wash (as it’s intended to be used) or as the main and only wash?
I'm also interested by these products...how are you using them? Do you just squirt on, leave for a bit and then rinse off? Or is there more to it than that?

Get as much grime off during the rinse before using shampoo, then rinse again. Having PPF and ceramic polished my bike, the muck washes off very easily. Andy
I use several snow foams, Auto Gym, Gyeon, Bilt Hamber, Valet Pro, all of which are ph neutral, which is VERY important when washing bikes, as some foams contain traces of salt. But, to be honest, I get the same if not better results from using SDOC100 bike gel cleaner in a pump spray bottle, and letting that soak in for ten minutes, then jet washing off. Followed by shampooing, drying with a handheld air dryer, then going over the bikes with a microfibre cloth and either carnauba wax spray or just GT85.
This thread came about because @Vader mentioned he’d used AutoGlym Polar Foam and wasn’t overly impressed. I too have used/am using it and I too had a concern, when I asked what he didn’t like it was the fact it slides off the bike (or car) too quickly, that’s what I think too. Hence the question, wondering if there is something that lingers a bit longer. The theory/recommendation is you rinse the bike with cold water - you can use a jet wash (cue the can of worms opening) then you apply the snow foam. It’s supposed to linger and stay in contact with the vehicle for 5-10 mins during which time the chemicals are working to dissolve the dirt and the tiny air bubbles in the foam are bursting and lifting the dissolved dirt off the bike’s surfaces. you then rinse it off, then shampoo it, rinse, dry and finish it off. That’s the theory anyway.

I buy 25 litres of whatever is cheapest when eBay has 20% off. I found that the secret to thick snow foam is actually the oriface. Bought an up-graded one for my gun and get thick foam every time.
If you agitate the snow foam with a wash mitt, you’re rubbing the grit all over the bike/ car. ALWAYS rinse the snow foam off, which will get rid of all the grit, THEN use a bucket of soapy water with your wash mitt in. Preferably with a grit guard. Even better, use the two bucket method. I’m a bit of a geek with this sort of thing, after having several cars ceramic coated, I’ve spent a lot of time around detailing professionals, so have picked up a lot of tips.
Couldn't agree more! My fleece cloths are all marked 'before' or 'after' in an attempt to keep the grit/grime in it's place
get yourself a dirty great steam cleaner, no need to concern yourself with pre wash, during wash and post wash foam. Just whack the pressure to 11 and the heat all up to max and blast away at the bike.
Just look out for any snow foam that has good reviews (car detailing sites) and is on sale/offer. End of season mega wash early Jan...
What activity requires, q-tips, tooth brushes, nitrile gloves, a well known aerosol lubricant.... to mention just some of the items used? Deep clean completed last weekend
