I’ve tried uploading photos on here, but keep getting a ‘file too big’ message come up. Has something changed on the servers, as I’m trying to upload in the same way I always have done, but am no longer able to?
Nothing has changed. Occasionally files are too big. Happens to me a lot. You've obviously been lucky
Happens to me too always been like it if it's too big resize sometimes a picture off the internet won't load here but if I save it to photos it will. Gifs are another that usually says too big

Agree - the "Snip" method is very good - I haven't loaded a picture in ages, always a Snip using the "Snipping Tool" - but it can still be too large if you take a snip of the whole screen If you have Windows you can search for "Snipping Tool" in the Search box. You then outline what you want to cut out - either straight lines of free draw the area you want - copy then paste where you want it to appear. At work we use it in emails all the time. With emails you can even give it a border to make it look pretty Snipping Tool looks like this: Mac has a version of Snipping Tool as below:
I used it a lot at work, indispensable when putting together presentations and you need to put PDF or excel docs into word or powerpoint.
