  1. Hi All,
I'd like to reset the service light on my multistrada 1200 dvt 2015. I've picked up from some posts that the OBD star can do the job. I borrowed my mates Ancel but doesn't work. I also have a hypermotard 821, so be good if it was generic. I'd appreciate any links.

    cheers.....john.

  2. Cheers Moorland, just had a look at the link. it looks very similar to the Ancel that ive tried. My mate got it via ebay. he's not tried it yet on his supersport (thats the acid test). reading the reviews. someone has wrote that it didnt work on his multistrada and returned it. Hence the acid test! hopefully it will work for him. He paid £350 for it.

  3. I've got an OBD Star and it does pretty much everything it says on the tin.

  4. cheers topolino. I'm not looking to spend this kind of money.

  5. I’ve got the OBD Star also. It’s never failed and I’ve managed to turn on quick shifter once fitted also.

  6. The OBDstar is available on aliexpress so might save a few quid buying from there

  7. Cheers guys appreciate the feedback.

  8. It might be cheaper but there is no backup if there is an issue or if you have questions, getting software upgrades after the original year can be tricky too. Robert at BMDiag goes out of his way to help out with questions and upgrades though. For me, that is a no brainer.

  9. I have an OBD Star too, as said by others, it does what it claims to do, very pleased with mine. Also mentioned above is the advantage in buying from BMDiag which I concur on. They are very responsive for future firmware updates and pre and post purchase advice.

Go here and download the coverage for the current firmware (under the 'Function Manual' tab) as an Excel spreadsheet. It'll confirm which models are covered and that the capabilities are available for each. Use the filters on the columns to just list the specific ones you're interested in.

  10. Just put of interest, when using it do you need a WiFi connection?

  11. does the star unit reset PIN engine start number on multis?

  12. yes

  13. No, only to apply updates to the reader

  14. Not during use, no. For firmware updates etc. yes.

It's an Android tablet basically with their software and a serial port to OBD2 connector.

  16. Thanks guys, when using the Ancel device. I get part way through it then asks to connect to WiFi. It then let's you complete the task. But it didn't work on my multistrada.

  17. The programming data is all stored in the OBDstar reader, that will be the difference. It only needs to connect online for periodic updates.
