Stating that "all commercial television is rubbish" is surely as narrow-minded and blinkered as stating that everything on the BBC is rubbish ? Channel 4 manage to produce some quality television - and some pretty decent films too - without public funding. It comes down to choice. Yes there are some ( a few ) things on the BBC that I watch occasionally - there are far more things on the other channels. As has been asked previously - if the BBC has adverts on it's satellite channels why can't it have them on its two remaining terrestrial channels ?
Some of us have to work occasionally to keep BBC executives and Pete in the style to which they are accustomed. I find that if I wear sandals without socks that the tops of my feet get burnt. The primary concern is not about funding, although it is an issue, but about political bias which anybody who isn't a Guardianista or raving lefty would clearly see.
