Acosta. An unbelievable talent. I’d just love to know what both Pecco and Marquez were muttering under their breath as the young gun shot past and disappeared into the distance. Brilliant.
I'm not sure why Pecco is being criticized here with that move, he just did what MM has been doing all his life by grabbing the position back straightaway. That's not good news for Ducati in my opinion for the rest of the season if he continues in that way.
Yes, he went for the switchback- all good. Yes, the gap was there- all good. He failed to pull it off- all bad. Pecco largely, but not entirely, to blame. Had it been the other way round the MM haters on here would now be engaging in a spectacular froth fest. Fact.
Cant speak for anyone else of course but my immense dislike of 93 has certainly subsided now hes no longer a real threat. Im just waiting for him to do what he advised Rossi to do now lol. Funny how that kind of stuff always comes back to bite you on the arse.
Is he coming off plateau? Maybe. But what you have to remember about MM, is that like VR and Casey, he's a very special head and shoulders talent. Still a threat to the current crop? Definitely.
Your first sentence yes but what's good for the goose is also good for the gander. So like MM & Pecco we'll have to disagree on the matter.
I sincerely hope MM isn’t crying over the racing incident? If he is he’ll go down a notch in my opinion of him.
He said he had a gearbox issue from early on in the race, that was costing him 0.2s per lap. That suggests he would be right at the front without the gearbox problem. MV was so much faster than AE. MV said his bike went into into neutral when he tried to change from 5th to 6th on the straight. Then after he ran wide it went into 2nd and threw him off.
Marquez / Bagnaia incident - Please bare with me on this one - On the one hand I do not like Simon Crafar's commentary as it is delivered too slowly for fast paced motorcycle racing. More suitable for a classroom perhaps. On the other hand he is very knowledgeable and experienced. He called it right at the start of season when he said that a rider has to treat the season like a wet race - where you ride within your limits and the the limits of the bike. If you go beyond trying to chase someone or getting into some battle - then you risk falling off and loosing points. Simon Crafar is right and this Marquez / Bagnaia crash is a perfect example. Bagnaia was slower and he tried to do battle with someone going quicker, and he ended up on his ass with no points to show for it. If Bagnaia was having a bad day - for whatever reason, then he should have collected as many points as possible and try and sort it for the next race. Although Marquez is very "crashy" I think he was taken out by a slower rider on the day.
MM: "I told the stewards it's a racing incident on the very limit. But the stewards must decide what is the limit," Marquez told reporters. "For me, it was a mistake from Pecco (Bagnaia), but not just the incident because in the end he tried to come back. It was too optimistic and contact can happen... He was suffering a lot, especially with the rear tyres. In the end when three, four laps remain, you know you will lose the position. So it's not necessary to come back in that aggressive mode, but he decided this and the consequence to Ducati is zero points." "Thou art one cheeky ****" etc...
We all know he can do it its being consistent thats his problem. Standard MV will be struggling to make it out of Q1 next round but lets see.
