I have owned the 1199 now for 2 months and love it. Massive grin factor handles better than 1198s. Looks drop dead gorgeous. 2 things that I have notice though and this is as follows The first being it has a strange smell after a hasty ride all I can say it smells like a spicy smell not sure if it the Catalytic Convertor but smells funny. Curry any one The other is how light it is and UK roads seem to have it jumping about a bit. I have had both wheels in air hitting severe bumps in roads. The 1st was a ripple in road where the centre line was all pushed up causing bumps in road. I hit these and ended up in the air at a 80 degree angle to road. Was a close call as had just over took a car. Tonight I also went out and hit some raised manhole cover doing about 30mph. Again took off. All I can say the roads are shite and why we pay these road taxes. If anyone thinking of jumping to one just do it, it is a superb bike and looks stunning when parked at the pub.
My 848 does that all the time, but that said, the roads round Kirklees are particularly shite. Get outside of Kirklees and the roads get noticably better. The bike still takes air though now and again. I wonder why?
And if you're in the 70-80kg range, then you almost certainly need to back off rear preload as well. (Do you have any rear sag? I didn't)
